Following a twenty-year relationship, two engagements, two weddings, and an endless stream of press coverage, Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck.

A celebrity couple that sparkled from the top of pop culture and appeared on innumerable tabloid covers appears to have come to an end with the file made in Los Angeles on Tuesday, at least the second part of it. The two were referred to as "Bennifer" even before power-couple clichés were commonplace.

According to court records, Lopez submitted the petition to Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday. The first to break the story was the TMZ website. Lopez listed April 26, 2024, as the date of separation, according to more TMZ allegations. It was added; she did not mention a prenuptial agreement.

The couple first met, fell in love, and were engaged in the early 2000s. They later broke up, with the couple blaming some of their separation on the pressure of the public eye. Additionally, they shared an appearance in the highly regarded movies "Gigli" (2003) and "Jersey Girl" (2004).

However, two decades later, to the astonishment of many and possibly the cynicism of others, they got back together and got married twice in 2022.

The couple, who had traveled to Las Vegas, exchanged vows just after midnight at A Little White Wedding Chapel. According to Lopez, their hurried march down the aisle was played on a Bluetooth speaker. In order to exchange licenses, they also lined up with four other couples. Affleck's Georgian home hosted a much grander wedding for them one month later, attended by friends and family, and she described it as the couple's greatest night ever.

They had both been married before. In 2005, 52-year-old Affleck married Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children. 2018 saw their divorce. Lopez, 55, has previously been married three times. She was temporarily married to Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003 and to Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998. She was married to singer Marc Anthony for ten years, starting in 2004. The two of them have twins who are fourteen years old. In 2017, she began dating Alex Rodriguez, a professional baseball player. However, the couple called off their engagement in 2021.
