Atul Mehra takes on the role of MD and CEO of Axis Capital

Atul Mehra MD CEO of Axis Capital

Axis Capital has appointed Atul Mehra as the new MD and CEO, pending required approvals.

Mehra is taking on the responsibility of leading the company's institutional and investment banking divisions. The appointment demonstrates the company's dedication to enhancing its leadership team and remaining a prominent choice in investment banking.

It stated that after five years as the MD and co-CEO, Salil Pitale has made the decision to move on.

Mehra had previously served as Joint Managing Director at JM Financial. He has over 32 years of experience and has worked for leading Indian companies. He has successfully led important M&A and ECM deals in both local and international markets.

The company appointed Dhaval Desai as head of cash equities. They also appointed Parag Gude, a former executive of Morgan Stanley, as chief operating officer-institutional equities.

Amitabh Chaudhry, chairman of Axis Capital, said the company has been the best in giving advice and ECM, increased its market share in stocks and derivatives, and built a strong research team over the past decade. He said he was happy to welcome Atul to Axis Capital, in line with Axis Bank's goal of strengthening the investment banking and institutional equities businesses. He was sure he would improve the company and solidify its position as a leader.

Mehra says that the India tale has had a big impact on investment banking in India. It is an extremely thrilling opportunity to lead an investment bank such as Axis Capital.
