LTIMindtree, India's largest IT services provider, has shortlisted two internal candidates for the CEO position due to the unlikely extension of CEO Debashis Chatterjee's term.
Two people acquainted with the subject said that LTIMindtree, the sixth-largest IT services provider in India by revenue, has shortlisted two internal candidates for the CEO position since it is unlikely to extend the term of CEO Debashis Chatterjee, which expires in the coming year.
The front-runners for the position are President Sudhir Chaturvedi and Chief Operating Officer Nachiket Deshpande because, according to one of the people, the board desires an insider to lead the business. When Reuters asked LTIMindtree and the executives for comment, they didn't reply.
The Indian IT sector is facing challenges due to inflation and global macroeconomic uncertainty. A succession plan is being implemented amid a larger shake-up in C-suites, with tech veteran Chatterjee, also known as "DC," taking over LTIMindtree after the merging of Larsen & Toubro companies L&T Infotech and Mindtree.
LTIMindtree, an infra giant, is expected to see a departure in late 2025. As of December 2023, the company owned 68.6%. Deshpande and Chaturvedi are currently handling more calls and duties than before. Competitors of LTIMindtree have also seen changes at the top, with Rajesh Gopinathan resigning, K Krithivasan promoted to CEO last year, and Mohit Joshi becoming Tech Mahindra's CEO in December 2023. Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte's five-year term expires in July 2025.
