Amazon reported faster package deliveries to Prime members in 2023 due to increased same-day warehouses, and a new regionalization approach for shipments.
Amazon stated on Tuesday that faster package deliveries to Prime members occurred in 2023 as a result of increased same-day warehouses, improved inventory allocation, and a new regionalization approach for shipments.
Last year, the business revealed in earnings calls and public statements that items were reaching Prime members' doorsteps more quickly. Prime members pay $139 a year, or $14.99 per month, for expedited delivery and other benefits.
The CEO of Amazon's global retail division, Doug Herrington, gave further information on package shipments during the holiday shopping season in a blog post on Tuesday. The season saw robust consumer spending despite rising borrowing costs and pricing rises.
According to Herrington, Amazon delivered more than 65% more things in the United States the same day or overnight in the final three months of 2023 compared to the same period the previous year. Over 70% of Prime orders shipped to the UK arrived in the United Kingdom the same day or the following.
In total, Amazon reported that it sent 7 billion things the same day or the following day last year. The business refuses to offer similar shipment data from 2022.
The e-commerce behemoth attributes quicker deliveries to enhanced inventory control and expansion of its same-day delivery locations. The business presently operates 55 of these locations in American metro areas, and it intends to open more in the upcoming years.
