According to detail shared with sources, Target is running an ad featuring its iconic mascot, Bullseye the dog, on the Las Vegas Sphere to boost its holiday marketing drive.

Live through December 22, 2023, the outdoor screen of the Sphere emulating a snowglobe will depict an 11-story Target based on gingerbread houses and the largest version of the retailer’s dog mascot to date, standing at around six-and-a-half stories tall. A spokesperson added that the wintry virtual Target would be around three times larger than a traditional brick-and-mortar store.

The Sphere campaign, which debuted shortly before Christmas, highlights well-liked toy gift suggestions from Target's selection, such as the stuffed plush toy line Squishmallows. In addition, Target is offering a real-life replica of the branded gingerbread house from the Sphere advertisement that can be used for home décor.

This year, Target has placed more of an emphasis on same-day services and last-minute bargains, including drive-up ordering and lightning-fast delivery through its Shipt affiliate, in an effort to entice holiday shoppers who have been sluggish shoppers. The big-box retailer began its winter campaign early in November by emphasizing value in an attempt to ease the financial strain that many customers are feeling as a result of inflation.

Target has joined the ranks of elite marketers who are profiting from the hype around the Sphere, a massive digital out-of-home destination and performance space that rises 366 feet above the Las Vegas cityscape and is 516 feet wide. Other companies that have made use of the space include Heineken, which aired an advertisement for its low-carb Silver beer product during a recent Formula 1 race, and Coca-Cola, which used the location for an artificial intelligence campaign.
