The game seems to have sold successfully even after this initial wave, despite the company's earlier announcement of a 2.5 million copy-day sales total.
Alongside the release came a detailed analysis of Sony's quarterly earnings, this showed the consistent sales of PS5 consoles and robust revenue growth in the company’s gaming division. The information given indicates that in Q2 2023, which ended on September 30, 2023, Sony's Game & Network Services (G&NS) segment had a 32% year-over-year increase to ¥954.1 billion (USD $6.3 billion).
The business stated in the report that it had sold 8.2 million PS5s in the current fiscal year, with a target of selling 25 million units by March 2024. Sony has stated that it plans to introduce new deals and incentives during the holiday season to further boost console sales; the recently unveiled PS5 Slim model is probably going to contribute to this effort.
Notably, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is not included in Sony's Q2 FY23 sales totals due to the financial quarter cut-off. Instead, the game's October 20 release date will have a big effect on the business's Q3 reports.
