With eight nominations apiece out of 31 total categories, Alan Wake 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 are tied for the most nominations in the 2023 The Game Awards.
In addition to the primary Game of the Year award, they are vying for Best Game Direction, Best Storytelling, Best Score, and Best Music.
Right behind them in award-winning potential is Spider-Man 2, with seven nominations. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Hi-Fi Rush are all up for five awards each, while Final Fantasy 16 and Cyberpunk 2077 are each up for four. Triple-nominees Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil 4 finish off the main multi-nominations pack.
The major competition every year is, of course, the Game of the Year award, for which there are six nominees (interestingly, all of them are sequels or portions of already-established series).

Spider-Man 2 is just behind them with seven nominations, indicating its potential for multiple awards. There are five awards up for grabs for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, It's fantastic to see Baldur's Gate 3 hold its own in every aspect this year as a turn-based combat enthusiast and lover of role-playing games. Swen Vincke, the CEO of Larian, already walked out of one awards ceremony with an armful of prizes, and this might be the next.
On Thursday, December 7, at 4:30 p.m. Pacific/7:30 p.m. EST on Twitch,TikTok, YouTube, and other social media, the Games Awards 2023 will make their debut. The public can now cast their votes until Wednesday, December 6 at 6 p.m. Pacific time on The Game Awards website and on the official Discord server (or Bilibili and WeChat for Chinese fans).
