Our stories have a profound impact. By sharing our authentic identities and experiences, we can both free ourselves and enlighten others. When people genuinely share their stories with us, empathy allows us to truly comprehend them. The act of storytelling builds bridges, creating a sense of community and fostering connections. It helps resolve conflicts, alleviates feelings of isolation, and strengthens our sense of belonging.

Furthermore, our stories provide powerful inspiration. Courage is essential for success in life. It is the key to taking risks, overcoming obstacles, and conquering our fears. Without courage, we would never step out of our comfort zones or pursue our dreams. However, with courage, all things become possible.

Deanna Radulescu and Label Free Podcast celebrate and share empowering stories with the world. Through the podcast, Deanna aims to inspire, uplift, and embolden her listeners. Deanna delves into the topic of breaking free from the labels imposed on us by society, both in our personal lives and professional endeavors.

In conversation with Deanna Radulescu, the Host, Founder, and CEO of the Label Free Podcast

Q. What is Label Free Podcast’s story? Why did you decide to start a podcast talking about entrepreneurship and overcoming personal ordeals?

The journey to creating Label Free began after a series of transformative events in my life. In January 2016, I was grieving the death of my husband and the collapse of our businesses that we worked on together for ten years. I got some money from his estate, so I decided to start a new career as a fashion designer. I put a lot of effort and resources into this project. I showed my work on the runway at Style Week in Rhode Island, became a finalist for the Cadillac Design Challenge at Style Chicago, and ran a successful Kickstarter campaign. My design work peaked at an event to fight human trafficking. We raised over $30,000 with 300+ attendees.

After closing that chapter, my Type A personality drove me towards a new challenge. In June 2019, I stumbled upon an article about starting a podcast. Despite my lack of prior knowledge of podcasts, I was resolute. I lightheartedly shared with my friends and family, “I don’t know who the heck I think I am, but I’m going to start a podcast.”

After a deep conversation with my best friend, we came up with the idea of Label Free: to embrace a life without labels. I came up with this concept because I was tired of being defined by the labels that were given to me. These labels came from experiences of abuse, trauma, widowhood, and surviving human trafficking. I decided to use my voice and share my story to make a meaningful impact.

My focus on entrepreneurship and overcoming personal trauma stems from their deep relatability. Entrepreneurship is a dream that many people hold—a goal that feels both elusive and attainable. Some are brave enough to pursue it, while others watch from a distance, wishing they had the courage to take that leap.

Speaking openly about overcoming trauma is crucial because it’s what allows us to heal and connect with one another. It reminds us of our shared humanity. Highlighting a guest who has overcome abuse, like me, and is now living a very successful life, is a powerful example. It’s inspiring for people struggling, showing them a brighter future is possible.

Q. How has your life played a crucial role in the development of the Label Free Podcast?

I, as the founder of Label Free, have experienced a life filled with acquiring and shedding labels. Many of these labels were imposed on me at a young age. I had a tough childhood with an abusive father, so I had to support my single mother and take care of my four younger siblings. My early experiences caused me to end up in an abusive relationship. This led to a horrifying time when I was involved in sex trafficking, drugs, and even faced abduction where my life was in danger.

My late husband, who was a multi-millionaire, pursued me and gave me an opportunity for a new life. We built a successful life together; I became the vice President of our manufacturing company and co-owned three other businesses. But when he passed away, I lost everything we had built together. This devastating loss marked a pivotal moment in my life, compelling me to face my unresolved childhood traumas and eventually leading to a profound transformation.

Label Free is a reflection of my refusal to let the labels of my past define or limit me. I’ve chosen to reject those labels that once held me back or made me think less of myself. This platform represents my commitment to living authentically and empowering others to do the same.

Q. Can you please elaborate on Label Free Podcast’s vetting process before choosing which guests to feature on the show?

At the beginning of Label Free, I interviewed many people to create content and improve my interviewing skills. As I invested more in resources for guests and actively engaged on social media, the demand to be on the show increased significantly. Now, I have no shortage of people eager to share their stories.

However, I’m selective about who I feature. Every potential guest must have an introductory call with me to ensure our messages align. Many people pitch themselves without knowing what my show is about. This is a red flag. I also make it a point to understand what they hope to achieve by appearing on the show.

As I mentioned earlier, this isn’t a hobby for me—this is my business. I have created a strong brand with a large audience, and I am dedicated to having genuine, useful, and important conversations for my listeners.

Q. What were some of the most memorable challenges you and the team at Label Free Podcast have overcome? How did the company learn from these challenges?

Challenges are an inevitable part of life—and if you’re fortunate, they’re also a part of your business. Without challenges, growth and evolution are nearly impossible. I’ve had difficult times, from feeling like giving up to finding my own ways to make money from the show. I never imagined I would end up in the media space, but here I am, fully embracing it.

I enjoy my work, and even on difficult days, I am dedicated to consistently creating high-quality content for my show. I am fully committed to this stage of my career, and I intend to continue as long as it keeps challenging me and helping me grow.

Q. What are Label Free Podcast’s plans for the future?

Looking ahead, my goal is to continue expanding Label Free, and reach as many people as possible with inspiring stories, packed with value and abundant resources. I’m determined to become one of the most well-known podcasters, standing alongside names like Joe Rogan.

Q. Would you like us to highlight something important happening in your company that we may have missed asking about?

Yes, we have a lot of exciting developments underway. I recently launched my show on e360 TV, which is now streaming on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, LG, Samsung, and soon, Netflix. I started a Celebrity Segment where I interviewed famous people like Jennie Garth and Theresa Caputo. I’m thrilled about what’s next and am open to whatever opportunities come my way.
