Google has launched a native Gemini AI app for Mac, enabling screen sharing, quick access, and workflow integration.
Google has introduced its Gemini AI assistant to macOS with the launch of a dedicated native app, marking a significant step in bringing its AI tools closer to everyday workflows. The Gemini AI app, released on April 15, is available for free to all Gemini users globally and can be downloaded from Google’s official website. However, it is currently limited to MacBooks running macOS 15 or later and is accessible to users aged 13 and above.
The new Gemini AI app for macOS allows users to interact with AI more seamlessly by integrating it directly into the Mac environment. Users can select a window and ask Gemini for help, whether it’s verifying information, analyzing data, or generating insights. The assistant can also be launched instantly using the Option + Space shortcut, making it easily accessible from anywhere on the system.
Google says the app is designed to fit naturally into users’ workflows. From drafting reports and checking facts to working on spreadsheets and generating formulas, Gemini aims to deliver quick assistance without disrupting productivity. With user permission, the assistant can also access local files, adding another layer of convenience.
The app goes beyond productivity by incorporating creative tools such as Nano Banana for image generation and Veo for video creation. These features position Gemini as a versatile, all-in-one AI assistant capable of supporting both professional and creative tasks.
In addition to the Mac launch, Google is expanding Gemini’s capabilities across other platforms. A new “Skills” feature on Chrome allows users to save frequently used prompts, simplifying repetitive tasks. The company has also introduced free NEET UG mock tests within Gemini, developed in collaboration with Physics Wallah and Careers360. This feature provides students with exam-like practice and is currently available in English. With these updates, Google is strengthening Gemini’s position in the competitive AI assistant space while aiming to deliver a more integrated and efficient user experience.
As Business Fortune observes, Google’s expansion of Gemini across Mac and other platforms reflects its growing ambition to make AI as a seamless, everyday productivity companion.
