Tech Mahindra clarified on March 9 that viral posts about 30,000 layoffs are false, assuring employees no large-scale job cuts planned.

Tech Mahindra, an Indian IT services company, has denied the social media rumors spreading around the Internet regarding the potential of laying off as many as 30,000 employees and said that this was not something they were even considering.

The company stated in the March 9th stock exchange report that they were aware that there has been speculation and posts on social media regarding layoffs of employees; however, Tech Mahindra has not proposed massive workforce reductions and these are false claims. This response follows growing speculation within the market as well as concern from both investors and staff.

There are many posts on social media claiming layoffs of up to 30,000 employees due to the impact of increasing automation and artificial intelligence in the IT services industry; however, Tech Mahindra has firmly denied these rumors and stated that there are currently no plans to make any layoffs of this size.

Tech Mahindra is dedicated to increasing productivity and operational efficiency, but they are not currently considering any workforce reductions of the magnitude being conjectured on social media. Instead, they are continuing to move employees to different roles and projects as their business needs change.

Around 150,000 workers currently make up the backbone of the IT services worldwide. Although there may be a chance to streamline staff through layoffs, it was made clear at the time that the IT services would be implementing an initiative by focusing on maximizing their current employee numbers through increased productivity over the last few quarters.

Many companies in the worldwide technology network are trying to modernize their labor strategies in response to these structural modifications, which stem from the growth of automation and artificial intelligence, as well as changes in how customers are spending money.

Tech Mahindra and Microsoft recently announced a partnership to create an ontology-based agentic AI platform to speed up telecom innovation and enterprise data modernization. Tech Mahindra stated that is planned to provide employees and stakeholders with an assurance that there will not be any large-scale reductions in the size of the workforce, reaffirms that there is no basis for any rumors of redundancies.
