IIM Sambalpur hosts Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) India International Conference 2025 on Operations and Supply Chain Management
IIM Sambalpur founded by the Government of India in 2015 provides quality education in management programs like MBA, PhD, Executive MBA and is considered one of India’s leading management institutions.
IIM Sambalpur hosted four-day conference, the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) India International Conference 2025. This conference was organized in association with the POMS India Chapter, gathered many intellects, academicians, leading industry leaders and global scholars while maintaining the institute’s commitment to reshape the future of operations and supply-chain management globally. More than 500 participants including the students, academicians, industry leaders from top government and private institutions across the globe who are invested on operations and supply Chain management participated this conference.
Operations and supply-chain management professionals from all over the world are represented by the US-based Production and Operations Management Society (POMS). The conference highlighted how rapid technological disruptions, pandemics, climate change, and geopolitical tensions are radically altering global supply chains, making sustainability, digital integration, and resilience top priorities for companies in all industries.
The conference featured a well-known group of speakers from globally renowned institutions, including Fox School of Business (USA), Scheller College of Business, the University of Michigan (US), Pamplin College of Business, along with academicians from IIT Bombay, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Kozhikode and the Indian School of Business.
Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur, discussed the importance of technology and management education, saying that Global disruption is inevitable; it impacts not just businesses but also institutions that train future leaders. He also added that Operations are changing as a result of digitalization, decarbonization, and democratization; future managers must adopt inclusive business practices, embrace sustainability, and learn new technologies. With 53% of the world's GCCs based there, India has become a major hub for global capability centers, making it an essential link in the global digital supply chain of services.
