A live-action version, a stage musical, and sequels are being developed by Netflix in response to the surprising success of K-pop Demon Hunters.
The K-pop Demon Hunters universe is being considered for expansion by Netflix. Plans for sequels, a stage musical, a live-action remake, and other projects are in the works after the sleeper smash became Netflix's top original animated picture this week. The film received more views than anticipated when it debuted on June 20.
The voices of Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Yunjin Kim, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Lee Byung-hun are featured in the animation, which was directed by Maggie Kang. Billboard is still dominated by its OST. Netflix has more plans since the game isn't going to slow down.
The streaming behemoth intends to broaden its lively cartoon universe in order to provide viewers a more comprehensive and wholesome Huntr/x and Saja Boys experience, according to a report by The Wrap. Netflix views K-pop Demon Hunters as its equivalent of a Disney princess or "Frozen" series.
The OTT is developing two more sequel films as part of the idea, making it a trilogy. A live-action remake will follow. It's interesting to note that it has already looked at similar animation classics like Avatar: The Last Airbender, One Piece, and Cowboy Bebop. Huntr/x's choreography on singles like Golden, What It Sounds Like, and Takedown would then be brought to the stage in a stage musical version.
KPop Demon Hunters centers on Huntr/x, a fictional girl group who live double lives as pop idols by day and demon slayers by night. Huntr/x decides to take down the evil forces when the Saja Boys, another boy band, threaten their fame and try to kidnap the fans' souls.
