Build Smart, Not Just Big: Sanusi Calls on Nigeria to Reevaluate Its Infrastructure Plan

Sanusi Urges Smarter Infrastructure Planning in Nigeria

Smart approaches are necessary for national infrastructure development, according to Adepeju Sanusi, a U.S.-based construction and housing expert who claimed that Nigeria can build smart infrastructure despite the nation's widespread economic uncertainty.

Sanusi, a PhD student at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and an expert in construction project management, stressed that careful planning is a fundamental necessity for every project in order to provide innovative solutions. She pointed out that in order to maintain open budgeting, precise timetables, and robust risk management systems, projects must rely on realistic feasibility assessments.

She bemoaned the fact that political schedules, rather than technical evaluations, are frequently used to launch the majority of infrastructure projects in Nigeria. This leads to projects that look great on election flyers but fall apart once they are put into action.

She said that the sustainability of large-scale projects has become a critical necessity and will continue to be a determinant of Nigeria's national development goals in this uncertain time.

According to her, the future will be dominated by countries that combine their size and durability with smart planning to achieve their goals. Nigeria has to concentrate on creating intelligent infrastructure that promotes long-term advancement rather than just building massive projects in order to meet its goals.

According to Sanusi, technology offers infrastructure projects a potent way to accomplish more intelligent delivery results. She went on to say that project managers may create more efficient planning, coordination, and simulation tools by using digital construction platforms like Building Information Modeling (BIM).

She clarified that project monitoring using real-time data reduces waste, improves accountability, and aids in the early detection of issues. The industry sector's construction delays and cost overruns would be significantly decreased by using such creative ideas.
