ISEAL Grant Boosts Human Rights Training for GOTS Auditors

GOTS auditor training is funded by the ISEAL grant to enhance expertise in human rights due diligence for ethical textile certification.

The goal of the ISEAL award is to provide a training program on GOTS Due Diligence Criteria and a framework for continuing education for GOTS auditors.

Standard Development and Implementation (Social Responsibility), Global Standard Responsible According to Ruslan Alyamkin, the growing need for ethical and open supply chains necessitates that auditors possess a thorough comprehension of human rights due diligence and how it applies to textile certification.

He continued by saying that the project's goal is to give GOTS auditors the know-how they need to evaluate compliance efficiently, enhancing the legitimacy of GOTS certification.

Compliance in the textile supply chain may be hampered by the changing legal environment, including the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDD), as well as a general lack of clarity in the sector on how to carry out due diligence.

The goal of this ISEAL financing is to assist in the creation of instruments that will enable GOTS auditors to carry out their responsibilities with greater confidence and effectiveness.

To guarantee a well-organized and productive learning process, the GOTS auditor training program will concentrate on three main goals. It will provide a plan for continuous learning that is backed by a structured framework for GOTS auditors' continued professional growth. To give auditors the abilities they need to evaluate adherence to the GOTS Due Diligence Criteria, a customized training program will be created. About thirty auditors will also participate in a pilot training session. The training will be improved and refined by incorporating input from certifying organizations and practical audit experiences.

Best practices and insights from globally recognized frameworks such as the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct, and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for the Garment and Footwear Sector will be incorporated into the training.
