The Airtel Money GlobalPay Card, a new service that links consumers throughout Africa to international online markets, was introduced by Airtel Africa in collaboration with Mastercard.
This was verified in a statement by Ian Ferrao, the CEO of Airtel Money. He said that by giving Airtel's 150 million mobile customers in 14 African nations access to Mastercard's global merchant network for safe international transactions, the partnership will empower them.
Ferrao claims that the Airtel Money GlobalPay Card is a virtual payment method that isn't made of plastic and is connected to Airtel Money wallets directly. He pointed out that the card could be used to pay for transactions on a number of international online marketplaces, including Uber, Amazon, Google, and Alibaba.
He continued by saying that the payment solution intends to assist small firms involved in cross-border trade and satisfy Africa's increasing need for digital payments. The collaboration supports Airtel Africa's objective of increasing financial inclusion by offering mobile money customers throughout the continent quick and easy payment options.
According to Muhammad Nana, Senior Vice President for Digital Partnerships at Mastercard Middle East and Africa, the plan aimed to facilitate partners' digital transformation. According to Nana, African customers were in a good position to fully benefit from the new solution because of the growing availability of mobile internet and reasonably priced cellphones.
