T-Mobile's move to software-defined networks includes the selection of Red Hat as a cloud automation partner.
To increase scalability, automate processes, and better control expenses, Red Hat will assist T-Mobile in implementing a cloud platform throughout its core network and far-edge operations. The use of cloud-native architectures by telecom providers is believed to result in better network dependability, cost-effectiveness, resource optimization, and more flexibility.
Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus will be used by T-Mobile to create a shared telco cloud that will enhance network automation, simplify operations, and accommodate the company's new digital offerings.
Pre-validated certification of services will allow faster deployment, easier lifecycle management, and the integration of virtual network functions (VNFs), cloud-native network functions (CNFs), and IT applications. Additional benefits of integrating Red Hat's platform are anticipated to include cost reduction through infrastructure consolidation and automation, allowing for more efficient use of resources, improved security and compliance by standardizing the management of workloads, and lowering the risks inherent in diverse network environments.
Red Hat's vice president of worldwide telecoms, Fran Heeran, emphasized the increasing demand for cloud automation and standardization in the telecom sector. According to him, OpenShift provides a productive framework for handling network demands and expediting service delivery. OpenShift is a versatile, carrier-grade platform that can accommodate both present and future telecom needs in this regard.
