Cornbread Hemp, a CBD firm located in Kentucky, is growing its business to encompass additional product lines and tourism. Like a bourbon distillery, the firm is launching a hemp tourist destination where guests may observe the production process of its goods.
Established by cousins Jim Higdon and Eric Zipperle of Kentucky, the firm will celebrate its sixth anniversary this year and has expanded beyond producing oils, topicals, and candies that contain CBD, a non-toxic substance present in hemp, a kind of cannabis plant. As of later this year, the pair is launching new items, welcoming the public, and promoting tourism in the hemp sector.
Every Cornbread Hemp product is currently made by hand, but as demand continues to soar, the company plans to scale up and add more advanced machinery to its manufacturing process soon.
According to Higdon, this will increase the need for jobs and possibly even require a second shift of workers to keep the gummy production going almost nonstop.
In 2024, Cornbread Hemp relocated its main processing activities to a bigger location at 4612 Schuff Ave. in Louisville, from a site in Lexington close to its hemp farm.
The relocation was partly motivated by the need for additional room to prepare more of the brand's artisanal gummies, as client orders continue to expand, with an average of 2,000 packages delivered each day.
