SAP specialists vanguard quantum computing research

SAP is one of the top firms investigating how quantum computing might upend conventional business practices and create previously unheard-of possibilities and innovations.

While hardware limitations might limit the possibilities at this early stage, SAP experts are actively investigating the possibilities by working with partners and clients at associations for the quantum industry.

Leading many working groups are SAP specialists who are part of the Quantum Technology and Application Consortium (QUTAC). A German-based organization called QUTAC is dedicated to using quantum technology for profitable applications across a range of sectors. One group is simulating possible applications of quantum computing for machine learning and optimization in logistics and production. In a different way, they are investigating different quantum computing systems to evaluate their advantages and disadvantages in light of potential use cases.

Computationally demanding jobs can be completed more quickly with quantum computers, which holds the promise of producing better and faster solutions for particular problem classes. Benchmarking existing quantum technologies—such as machine capabilities by qubit size to address industry-specific problems—makes up a large portion of this exploratory phase. What unique qualities do different types of quantum systems offer, and how well-suited and scalable are they to deal with issues that are pertinent to business? For instance, some groups are concentrating on using the special benefits of quantum computing to enhance and expedite fraud and anomaly detection, image identification, data synthesis, and cloud provider cost optimization.
