Shein is being sued by H&M for copyright violations. The fast-fashion brand has requested an injunction to prevent Shein from violating its trademarks and copyright.

Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) is suing fast-fashion retailer Shein for copyright infringement in Hong Kong. The Swedish fast-fashion company H&M has filed a lawsuit in Hong Kong against Shein, according to a spokeswoman from the company. The lawsuit claims that Shein has copied their designs on several occasions. The lawsuit that was filed in 2021 intended to lessen the danger presented by Shein's Chinese competitor. A July 2021 writ of summons, seen by the media, lists Shein Group Ltd. and Zoetop Business Co., the Hong Kong-based company that owned Shein in the past, as defendants. The Swedish company H&M requested an injunction to prevent Shein from violating its trademarks and copyright, as well as an amount of money that was not mentioned.

Following a hearing at the Hong Kong High Court on June 21st, the filing's details which included pictures of numerous swimsuits and sweaters, among other items were made public. H&M claimed that these photos proved Shein had stolen its designs.

A separate document made public in May stated that the case was initially heard by the Hong Kong court in September of last year. That hearing led to the judge giving the go-ahead for it to proceed. The next hearing is scheduled for July 31st.
