FWICE withdraws its directive against Ranveer Singh following industry appeals in the Don 3 dispute, opening the door for an amicable resolution.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has withdrawn its non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh, just a week after issuing it due to Don 3 Controversy following his sudden exit from Don 3. The decision came after leading industry bodies, including the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) and the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA), requested FWICE to reconsider its stand in the interest of the film industry.
Speaking to the media in Mumbai, FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke explained that while the Producers Guild of India criticized Ranveer's departure from Don 3 because of the losses reportedly suffered by Excel Entertainment, other producer associations encouraged a more balanced and constructive solution.
"Taking these appeals into account and keeping the larger interests of the industry in mind, we have decided to withdraw the directive with immediate effect," Pandit said.
Can the Dispute Be Settled Without Further Conflict
FWICE has now urged all parties involved, including Ranveer Singh, Excel Entertainment, and industry bodies, to sit together and find an amicable solution. Pandit emphasized that dialogue was always the preferred path and expressed hope that the actor would participate in resolving the matter.
FWICE President BN Tiwari also clarified that the organization had not acted under pressure despite receiving legal notices from both Ranveer Singh and veteran producer TP Aggarwal.
"We have handled many legal notices over our 70-year history. Our objective is simply to ensure that the matter is resolved quickly and fairly," Tiwari said.
How Did the Don 3 Controversy Begin
The dispute traces back to August 2023 when filmmaker Farhan Akhtar announced Don 3, introducing Ranveer Singh as the new face of the popular action-thriller franchise previously led by Shah Rukh Khan.
Although Ranveer publicly promoted the project and reportedly participated in script readings, action training, and costume trials, he unexpectedly informed Farhan Akhtar in December 2025 that he wanted to leave the film. The exit reportedly came just weeks before filming was scheduled to begin, after more than 200 crew members had already been arranged for an overseas shooting schedule.
Mediation Talks Reveal New Details
According to reports from Variety India, mediation meetings were held after the actor's departure. During one discussion, Excel Entertainment producer Ritesh Sidhwani reportedly asked Ranveer whether he would have left the project if his blockbuster film Dhurandhar had not achieved massive box-office success.
Sources present at the meeting claimed that Ranveer acknowledged he would likely have remained with Don 3 under those circumstances. The mediation sessions reportedly involved several major Bollywood personalities, including Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, and Alia Bhatt.
Excel Entertainment also reportedly presented records of past communications to counter concerns regarding script quality, budget cuts, compensation negotiations, and Farhan Akhtar's availability during the film's development.
Workers Free to Collaborate Again
With the directive now withdrawn, FWICE has confirmed that workers and technicians are once again free to work on projects involving Ranveer Singh.
As Business Fortune observes, the withdrawal of the directive signals willingness across Bollywood's major organizations to prioritize dialogue over confrontation. As industry leaders continue efforts to resolve the dispute, the focus will likely shift toward rebuilding trust between talent, producers, and film bodies.
