Instructure partners with K16 Solutions to simplify Canvas LMS migration. The deal helps institutions move from legacy systems with secure, automated data transfer.
Instructure has announced an exclusive strategic partnership with K16 Solutions, to support institutions moving from legacy learning management systems to Canvas LMS, a widely used cloud-based Learning Management System (LMS) developed by Instructure. The partnership gives Instructure exclusive access to K16’s automated LMS migration services.
The goal of this collaboration is to make LMS transitions simpler, faster, and less risky for educational institutions. Many universities and organizations struggle when switching platforms because they risk losing or disrupting course materials, assessments, and structured content. The new solution focuses on removing those challenges by automating much of the migration process.
K16 Solutions brings its expertise in higher education data management through its cloud-based Scaffold Platform. The platform is designed for data warehouse automation, content migration, and archiving, helping institutions move large amounts of academic data safely and efficiently. Kevin Martin, Vice President of Sector Strategy at Instructure, said the transition to a new LMS is often complex and disruptive. He noted that the partnership with K16 gives institutions a more reliable path to Canvas while protecting critical academic content and reducing downtime.
According to Instructure, the partnership reflects a broader shift in the education sector. More institutions are moving away from legacy systems and choosing modern platforms that better support today’s learners. Canvas learning management system is positioned as a flexible ecosystem that connects learning tools, assessments, analytics, and digital credentials in one place.
K16 Solutions also emphasized the importance of continuity during migration. Sam Yaghoubi, SVP of Partnerships at K16 Solutions, said most institutions they work with are now choosing Canvas as their preferred platform, driven by its flexibility and long-term value.
As Business Fortune observes, the collaboration comes as demand grows for unified learning ecosystems across K-12, higher education, and workforce learning. With this partnership, Instructure aims to strengthen Canvas LMS as a central hub for modern digital education while making system transitions smoother and more secure for institutions worldwide.
