KTR Accuses Congress Over Funds

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K.T. Rama Rao accused the ruling Congress party legislators for treating Public Money as Charity.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)  working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday, December 16, accused the ruling Congress for threatening sarpanches by stalling funds to panchayats  and urged newly elected local body representatives to stand firm against political intimidation by the ruling Congress party legislators.

According to Rao, funds for welfare schemes like Indiramma Houses and Gram Panchayats are not the personal property of Congress leaders but indeed the public money. KTR made fun of the Congress administration's financial situation, pointing out that a number of MLAs are allegedly pleading for money on public platforms or writing to the World Bank. In order to empower Sarpanches about their constitutional rights and responsibilities, he declared that the BRS would set up Legal Cells in each district and host training workshops.

KTR emphasized that Gram Panchayats have administrative and financial autonomy under Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s five-tier governance system. To speed up the elections, he accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of betraying the Backward Classes (BC) by lowering their local body reservations from 24% to 17%.

The only reason for the rush to hold these elections was to obtain Rs 3,500 crore from the Central Finance Commission. According to the law, the Gram Panchayats must receive 70% of these funds directly. No Chief Minister or MLA has the legal authority to stop this flow.

KTR further mocked the Congress administration’s financial situation, pointing out that a number of MLAs are allegedly writing to the World Bank or begging for money in public. The leaders must keep in mind that they are spending taxpayer money, not their personal assets, and that their attempt to provide funds to villages is hollow when the MLAs themselves are financially strapped.
