The Hurun India Rich List 2025 highlights a startup surge, with PhysicsWallah’s Alakh Pandey’s net worth soaring 223% to ₹14,510 crore, surpassing Bollywood stars and signaling a new era of young billionaire entrepreneurs.
Edtech unicorn PhysicsWallah, founded by Alakh Panday, has made headlines in the Hurun India Rich List 2025 with a staggering 223%increase in wealth, pushing his net worth to Rs 14,510 crore. This rice place Pandey ahead of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, whose net worth is Rs 12,490 crores ($1.4 billion) this year.
According to Hurun, Prateek Maheshwari, co-founder of PhysicsWallah, has registered the same percentage growth, reflecting the firm’s robust valuation trajectory. Although the Edtech organization reduced its net loss to Rs 243 crore in FY25, significantly lower than Rs 1,1131 crore recorded the previous year, the firm’s revenue surged to Rs 2,886 crore from Rs 1,940 crore, underlining its growth momentum.

Alakh Pandey and Prateek Maheshwari (Physics Wallah): The co-founders of the edtech firm Physics Wallah saw their wealth surge 223%over the previous year. They both now have a net worth of Rs 14,520 crore. Alakh Pandey’s wealth overtakes Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Other younger entrepreneurs include Rohan Gupta of SG Finserve, Shashvat Nakrani of BharatPe, and Trishneet Arora of TAC Security.
Alakh Panday was born in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, in 1991. He joined Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur, to pursue mechanical engineering, but dropped out in his third year.
In 2016, he started a YouTube channel named Physics Wallah, where he teaches, with aspirants preparing for IIT-JEE and NEET. From there, he scaled the platform into one of India’s leading edtech companies.
