According to Hossam Heiba, the head of GAFI, Egypt's foreign investment in FY 2023–2024 was driven by the Ras Al-Hikma deal and was primarily focused on construction.
According to a statement by Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), the number of new businesses founded in the construction industry in 2024 rose by 20% to 2,856 from 2,375 in 2023.
Heiba said that, thanks to the Ras Al-Hikma transaction, the construction industry accounted for 76% of the entire value of net foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows for fiscal year (FY) 2023/2024, or $35.756 billion.
His comments were made during the third "The Investor: Real Estate" conference, which was organized in collaboration with the Real Estate Development Chamber and sponsored by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
