Ecctis purchases Enroly to use data-driven technologies to transform international student admissions.
After months of speculating about possible purchasers, Ecctis has bought Enroly, the award-winning edtech platform used for foreign student compliance, visa, and arrival management in the UK.
Both companies reacted to the news by referring to the deal as a great "fit," which will drive innovation in the student admissions sector. Co-founders Jeff Williams and Maynard Inkster founded Enroly in 2017, and it has since expanded quickly to collaborate with more than 60 British universities.
Imperial College London is the most recent university partner to implement the admissions software, and more than one in three overseas students currently go through it when applying to study in the UK. It has now been revealed that Ecctis, whose employee-owned trust (EOT) completed the purchase last week, has outbid the company for an unknown amount to acquire the lucrative edtech platform.
Jeff Williams, CEO and co-founder of Enroly, says the two companies have high aspirations to play a significant role in the global student journey and have a fantastic strategic and cultural fit. They both think that the sector may prosper by offering excellent solutions that deal with urgent problems, particularly when there are significant political and financial constraints in both domestic and significant international markets.
Williams added that Ecctis' extensive dataset will be crucial in accelerating Enroly's foray into the admissions market and that collaborating will allow the companies to continue automating and upgrading the student experience.
