Samsung SDS Surges in Q1 2025 with Cloud and Logistics Growth

In Q1 2025, Samsung SDS reported a 7.5% increase in sales, driven by the expansion of its digital logistics platform Cello Square and the popularity of cloud services.

Samsung SDS announced its initial financial results for the first quarter of 2025, reporting revenue of KRW 3.4898 trillion and an operating profit of KRW 268.5 billion. When compared to the corresponding period from the previous year, the company experienced a revenue increase of 7.5% and a rise of 18.9% in operating profit.

The IT services industry generated KRW 1.6004 trillion in revenue, a 3% increase over the same time the previous year. The cloud company generated KRW 652.9 billion in revenue, a 23% year-over-year increase. For the first time, cloud revenue exceeded 40% of overall revenue in the IT services industry.

Increases in the high-performance computing (HPC) service, the expansion of the cloud network service, and the expansion of the public-private partnership (PPP)-based public cloud service project for the Daegu Center of the National Information Resources Service (NIRS) all contributed to the 42% year-over-year growth of the Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP)-based CSP business among the cloud businesses.

The managed service provider (MSP) sector experienced a 12% increase in growth compared to the previous year. This growth can be attributed to advancements in global supply chain management (SCM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) firms, along with cloud migration and deployment within the financial and retail sectors.

The logistics sector generated KRW 1.8894 trillion, reflecting an 11.6% rise from the same period the previous year. This growth was primarily driven by the acquisition of new clients and a rise in cargo volumes due to early shipping demands ahead of reciprocal tariffs imposed by the United States.

Digital logistics platform Cello Square announced KRW 285 billion in revenue, marking a 12% increase year-over-year. The number of members at Cello Square climbed to nearly 20,200 businesses.

Samsung SDS anticipates that the industrial landscape will encounter further challenges amid economic uncertainty, but the company plans to continue its growth by focusing on cloud services, generative AI, and Cello Square.
