The controversy and legal challenges in Wisconsin's Supreme Court contest were centered on checks written by Elon Musk, totaling $20 million and $1 million respectively.
On Sunday, Musk distributed $1 million checks to two Wisconsin voters, characterizing them as ambassadors for his political organization, just prior to a Wisconsin Supreme Court race seen by the billionaire as crucial to Trump's agenda and the survival of humanity.
The conservative nominee for the state supreme court, Waukesha County Judge Brad Schimel, has been actively backed by Musk, an advisor to US President Donald Trump.
Supported by the liberal justices of the state supreme court and other Democratic funders, such as George Soros, Schimel is running against Dane County Judge Susan Crawford, according to the Associated Press.
According to the Associated Press, the judges may have a major influence on congressional district redistricting, which might eventually determine which party controls the US House, making the election seem important for Musk.
Musk stated during the rally that if the Supreme Court was able to redraw the lines, they would gerrymander the district and deny Wisconsin two Republican members. He continued by saying that they would then attempt to halt all of the government changes that we are implementing for you, the American people.
The high court of the state denied Wisconsin Attorney General and Democrat Josh Kaul's plea to stop Musk just hours before the event. Kaul maintained that Wisconsin law prohibits giving anything of value to induce a vote. Musk's attorneys countered that he was just exercising his right to free expression and that the money was not intended to support or oppose any candidate but to encourage a grassroots movement against activist judges.
