Jordan Love and Josh Jacobs lead the charge as the Green Bay Packers, who are overshadowed in a stacked division, thrash the Saints 34-0, displaying their playoff-ready form.
Perhaps the greatest third-place squad in NFL history is the Green Bay Packers. Even with their stellar 11-4 record, they are unable to win the NFC North since the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions, who are both 13-2, will face each other in Week 18. But the Packers are unquestionably a contender for the Super Bowl.
The Packers easily defeated a diminished New Orleans Saints squad on Monday night, winning 34-0 at Lambeau Field. Green Bay jumped to a 21-0 lead in the second quarter after scoring touchdowns on its opening three drives. They then slowed down and achieved the NFL's first shutout of the season.
The Saints found it difficult to compete without important players like Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, Taysom Hill, Alvin Kamara, and Derek Carr. The Saints' attempts were further hampered by interim coach Darren Rizzi's poor time management late in the first half, when they lost 24 seconds due to a turnover and a costly 14-yard sack. The game was practically finished at halftime.
As the season goes on, the Packers' offense keeps changing. After suffering injuries early in the season, quarterback Jordan Love has returned to his best, while running back Josh Jacobs has scored touchdowns in six consecutive games, demonstrating his unstoppable ability. Love was 12 of 18 for 127 yards in the first half on Monday, demonstrating his efficiency.
The Saints recorded their first shutout in 370 games thanks to Green Bay's outstanding defense. The Packers have shown that they are a club that no one wants to play against in the postseason, even if their playoff seeding has not yet been decided.
The Saints had a somber excursion. They were just outmatched by a Packers squad preparing for a significant postseason push, and they were dealing with injuries and the cold at Lambeau Field.
