With a focus on the fine art and professional photography markets, Canon has introduced a new line of large-format imagePROGRAF PRO printers.
Three new models are included in this refresh: the 44-inch PRO-4600, the 24-inch PRO-2600, and the 60-inch PRO-6600.
Canon claims that the LUCIA PRO II pigment ink set, which is being released alongside the new models, improves print quality overall, particularly with regard to black density and darker shades on fine art papers.
Better scratch resistance on photographic materials is another benefit of LUCIA PRO II ink, which facilitates handling, mounting, and finishing procedures. The ink set's light-resistant pigment significantly boosts color fastness, which, according to Canon, ensures that prints won't smudge in the presence of light.
Based on this, Canon claims that prints produced with its new printers will not fade for up to 73,000 days, or 200 years.
The claim has a few qualifiers, which no one can definitively establish. First, Canon assumes you're using its own Canon Photo Paper Pro Platinum; if you dare to use any other paper, all bets are off. Furthermore, stated in the tiny print is the statement that the forecast was made "using the life evaluation criteria of the digital color photographic print image preservation and the indoor light resistance test method." As stated differently, the prints will become obsolete if new lighting technology is developed by future generations.
It is claimed that the new imagePROGRAF PRO series is more productive and easy to use. Users may seamlessly transition between various media kinds and sizes without disrupting their workflow thanks to its dual-roll functionality.
