The only Michelin-starred restaurant in Worcestershire is set to shut down on December 22nd due to persistent pressure from inflation and rising interest rates.
Due to ongoing pressure from rising interest rates and inflation, a Worcestershire restaurant with a Michelin star is scheduled to close.
On December 22nd, Pensons, a rustic eatery in Tenbury Wells, the sole Michelin-starred restaurant in the nearby counties of Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and Shropshire will close since it is no longer able to operate profitably.
Situated within the 1,200-acre Netherwood Estate and overseen by head chef Chris Simpson, Pensons is among the select few in the nation to hold a Michelin Green Star for sustainability. This is attributed to the restaurant's cultivation of its own produce, procurement of grass-fed meat from nearby farmers and butchers, and use of sustainable fishing techniques to source fresh fish from boats in Cornwall and the South West.
Additionally, Pensons was given the "Editor's Choice 2023" award for "Restaurants with Rooms" by the Good Hotel Guide.
The very sad but very happy Pensons team released a statement expressing their immense pride in everything they have accomplished in the last five years, including their partnerships with regional producers and craftsmen and the caliber of their food and service.
The staff will get in touch with customers who have reservations after December 22. Those who have gift certificates are encouraged to make bookings as soon as possible.
