With products like SpecWeb, SpecGrab, and SpecBIM, you’ve built an integrated ecosystem. How do these solutions work together to create a more seamless design-to-delivery process?

SpecGrab allows designers to create interior design specs from any manufacturer’s website and seamlessly transfer them into SpecWeb. Images and product data can be imported into SpecWeb with a single click. AI-powered functionality enables SpecGrab to remember previous selections, saving designers time when importing similar items in the future.

Specsources’ specs writing engine, SpecBIM, allows interior designers to transfer room data and quantities from even the most complex Revit models directly into SpecWeb. This eliminates the need for manual counting and data re-entry, resulting in significant time savings.

SpecBIM handles everything, including linked models, design options, and nested furniture. If specs for an item in Revit do not already exist, SpecBIM can automatically create them, providing a substantial time-saving benefit. Family parameters can also be transferred into existing specs when required.

Interior design projects often involve multiple stakeholders, from designers to procurement teams and vendors. How does your platform improve coordination while reducing errors and miscommunication?

Built-in messaging for the internal design team, as well as clients and vendors, provides accountability throughout the design process.

Designers can invite clients to review and approve spec sheets. The interiors team can also create vendor bid groups to compare pricing for products, all at no additional cost.

Larger firms often require different permission levels to maintain greater project control. Specsources offers fourteen permission levels, ranging from Super Admin to Read-Only. Additional roles, such as Address Book Manager, give firms greater control over who can modify administrative settings and project data.

With SpecGrab enabling data capture directly from manufacturer websites, how has automation changed the way sourcing and catalog building is done in modern design workflows?

Specsources is always focused on saving time and ensuring seamless data management as the primary goals of our software. SpecGrab is the tool our firms rely on to move data into their specifications as quickly as possible.

Items from any manufacturer’s website can be transferred directly into a project or into SpecWeb’s integrated Catalog.

The Catalog gives designers greater control over how they manage frequently specified items. Designers can also create custom properties and tags for any catalog item, making it easier to locate and organize information later. Catalog items can be moved into a project with a single click.

Specsources has recently launched SpecStore www.thespecstore.com, partnering with interior design manufacturers to bring the newest and award-winning products from leading interior design trade shows directly in front of designers the moment they write their specs.

We attend shows such as BDNY, ICFF, and NeoCon to curate the latest interior design furniture, fixtures, and equipment, and present them not only to SaaS spec writing app users, but also to any designer who needs access to this resource.

Hosted on Microsoft Azure Cloud, SpecWeb’s interior design spec writing SaaS application delivers performance comparable to a desktop application. Printing large projects from web-based applications can be challenging, but we have worked hard to optimize tasks like these for maximum efficiency.

SpecBIM connects Revit models with specification data, bridging design and documentation. How important is BIM integration becoming for the future of FF&E specification management?

We started working with Revit almost 15 years ago. From a design perspective, syncing rooms and quantities, working with linked models, nested furniture, and design options are just some of the features interior design professionals rely on.

As Revit has become the standard BIM tool used in architecture and design, integration has become crucial.

Looking ahead to 2026, what emerging challenges or shifts in the interior design and hospitality industries do you think will shape the next generation of specification software, and how is Specsources preparing for that future?

AI integration is a frequently asked question from our clients. Specsources already has several AI capabilities in its development lifecycle and roadmap. As an interior design spec writing SaaS application, Specsources is positioned to be at the forefront of integrating AI tools into everyday workflows. Our focus is on making specification management more intelligent, efficient, and reliable without adding complexity for users.

Key areas of development include AI-assisted image management, automated project checks and balances, and improved data validation across specifications. These features are designed to help teams reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and maintain consistency across large-scale projects. Additional AI-based enhancements are also planned and will be introduced progressively as part of our ongoing release cycle.

SpecWeb’s current multi-language support will be enhanced by real-time AI translation. SpecWeb is used internationally allowing users that require Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese and French spec sheets to generate single or multi-language interior design specs automatically.
