EnviroScience, Inc: Their professionals consider every important factor pertaining to freshwater aquatic environments

Business Fortune

Not only is our immediate surroundings our home, but everything that sustains our life is found there. It aids in our survival in many ways, including the food we eat, the water we drink, the air we breathe, our shelter, and more. Thus, it should come naturally to us to care for the environment. Our actions can occasionally put everything around us, including ourselves, in jeopardy. Utilizing nature's resources in a sustainable way should be the goal of human interactions with the environment. Because we will be the ones who suffer in the long run, we should take care that our actions do not damage the ecosystem.

The goal of EnviroScience is to protect the environment we live in. EnviroScience is a team of more than 150 highly skilled biologists, environmental engineers, and scientists who work with federal, state, and local governments, the power sector, manufacturing, and private clients across the United States and Canada. The company offers biomonitoring, environmental compliance, restoration, and commercial diving services. With offices in Nashville, TN, Morgantown, WV, Richmond, VA, and Asheville, NC, EnviroScience has its headquarters located in Stow, Ohio.

Providing efficient, cost-conscious, and time-sensitive solutions to environmental challenges since 1989

With its headquarters located in Stow, Ohio, EnviroScience, Inc. employs more than 150 highly skilled biologists, commercial divers, environmental scientists, and environmental engineers. Across the country, we offer first-rate environmental consulting services through our regional offices.

EnviroScience has been offering professional technical services since 1989 to assist its clients in fulfilling regulatory and environmental design requirements. The railroad sector, utilities, mining and manufacturing, engineering firms, federal, state, and local governments, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and other state departments of transportation (DOTs), and private citizens are among the clients of EnviroScience.

Because of their ecological consulting expertise, nationally recognized ecological services, and environmental compliance for freshwater mussels, bats, fisheries, aquatic surveys, and stream and wetland management, EnviroScience is frequently referred to as a "niche" environmental consultant. Under the terms of a five-year contract with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), EnviroScience, for instance, has undertaken national surveys of streams, rivers, coastal areas, and other aquatic resources.

How things started

EnviroScience, Inc. was established in 1989 by the visionary Marty Hilovsky as a biological toxicity testing laboratory for NPDES wastewater permit holders located in a dentist office's basement. The one-dimensional service started to change into something completely special and unique as new and creative ideas from the company's growing network of environmental experts were integrated into the business model. Before long, EnviroScience personnel provided a broad spectrum of clients with electrofishing, water sampling, macroinvertebrate identification, litigation support, and diving services.

National Impact

Today, EnviroScience employs more than 100 highly skilled biologists, scientists, engineers, and commercial divers. The company is based in Ohio and has regional offices and resources spread across the whole US, including Guam.

Reclamation and environmental compliance solutions for freshwater mussels, bats, herptiles, fisheries, aquatic surveys, streams and wetlands, water, noise, and air quality, and underwater infrastructure are among the nationally renowned environmental consulting and design services provided by EnviroScience. To support ecological and biomonitoring programs, we also run a sizable bioassay and taxonomic identification laboratory. Services include entire effluent toxicity testing, harmful algal bloom identification, and identification of algae, periphyton, and macroinvertebrates.

A Team of Individuals

EnviroScience continues to have an incredible impact on the world around them while upholding its fundamental principles of respect, client advocacy, quality work, responsibility, teamwork, and safety. The message sent to staff members the day Marty announced his resignation may have best summed up the underlying effectiveness of the initiative:

“Despite being the founder of EnviroScience, I never thought of it as 'my’ company. It was and continues to be our company, and each of us is responsible for building the culture and growing the organization by sharing our ideas and talents and by welcoming new people into the fold. I want to thank each of you for your hard work, your support over the years, and most importantly, for your friendship.”

In 2022, EnviroScience became a part of the very successful and employee-owned ACRT Services, Inc. family of businesses, further realizing Marty's goal of an organization driven by its workers.

Environmental Consulting and Services in North America

EnviroScience has been honored for excellence in ecological restoration, biomonitoring freshwater, marine services, and ecological consulting across the United States and Canada since 1989. EnviroScience meets industrial demands and environmental compliance with technology, advice, and creative solutions.

Few environmental companies in the nation have the same level of scientific expertise, talent, and capacity as EnviroScience. Their scientists, environmental engineers, biologists, and divers come from a variety of backgrounds, which allows them to offer comprehensive in-house services and an integrated approach to tackling environmental difficulties, saving clients time, money, and guaranteeing high-quality outcomes.

EnviroScience promises its clients that it will deliver "Excellence in Any Environment," which translates to "respect, client advocacy, quality work, accountability, teamwork, and safety" in all that EnviroScience undertakes. EnviroScience was founded on the idea that exceptional people might tackle difficult issues. This idea is still relevant today, as its scientists investigate the most recent environmental laws and rules and use the newest technologies for data collection and reporting.

Aquatic surveys (including biological assessments and surveys of macroinvertebrates); ecological restoration; ecological services (including impact assessments, control of invasive species, and monitoring of water quality); emergency response; engineering and compliance services; surveys of endangered mussels; laboratory and analysis; stormwater management; sustainability services; endangered and threatened species; and wetlands and streams (including delineation and mitigation) are among the fields in which EnviroScience specializes. EnviroScience is also one of the few biological companies in the nation that provides full-service commercial diving services and is a general member of the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI).
