Interview Highlights
Could you please give a brief overview of the steps that led to D&V Customs LLC's formation?
As my last undergraduate assignment for a subject called Principles of Management in 2013, I developed a fictional brand. I was a former collegiate and professional athlete. D&V Customs was the brand name. In 2013, I was even aware that I would eventually work as a partner with my father, Dennis, who owned Trinity Carpentery at the time.
Unexpected events occur in every expanding company. Tell us about some of the challenges and lessons learned that D&V Customs overcame to expand throughout the years.
The first five years that we didn't try to automate our fabrication process were the largest obstacle to our company's growth. We automated edge banding as one step. We had to manually apply veneer or PVC edge banding on an automatic edge banding machine for years. This takes far too long and reduces the amount of work we can get done. Applying wood veneer or PVC edge banding to the edges of shelves, doors, and other completed casework components makes up 90% of our work.
Time limits are another significant disadvantage we have in luxury condominiums. During the months when numerous tourists are in town for visits, many structures entirely close and are unusable for several months. It's tolerable that some buildings will remain open during the holidays while others may close for a few weeks.
Would you please introduce your services to us? What distinguishing qualities do they have?
Our services cover anything from custom millwork and trim installation to simple remodeling, cabinet design, and manufacture. We provide a large selection of conventional packages, opulent packages, and budget-friendly remodeling upgrade packages. Our commitment lies in providing our clients with flawless cabinet designs that optimize any available space. Our distinctive embedded closet system, premium components, creative design, and state-of-the-art hardware all work together to make any room a more attractive and functional area.
Could you share with us one or two success stories detailing the difficulties your clients encountered and how D&V Customs assisted them in overcoming those difficulties?
My favorite approach to illustrate how the real magic happens when you help other people realize their dreams is through the story I'm going to share. Lynn and Marv, my clients, looked for years for a display wall designer deserving of showcasing their African antiquities and memorabilia. I have never seen a customer so happy when all was said and done in my life. She was so in love with the piece that we renovated her walk-in closet and made her a brand-new, opulent L-shaped desk for their home office! Return clients are common!
Describe the D&V Customs staff for us. What benefit do they offer the business?
We recently got an award in the 2023 Build Architecture Awards for Best Custom Closet and Cabinet Company in Southern Florida! I firmly think that the team we currently have in place deserves every bit of credit for that accomplishment. Our guys provide the organization with invaluable information, expertise, and experience. With our combined experience of over a century, we can handle any kind of project, whether it be residential or commercial.
What new projects is D&V Customs working on right now?
Our new production facility, which we are developing from the ground up, is our most significant future project. We are looking for land buying chances to construct a huge facility because we are expanding daily and have outgrown our existing location soon.
Which one quality do you want D&V Customs to stand for?
In order for our branded line of cabinets to become well-known, I am creating a personalized catalog for us. We will franchise additional locations around the country once we have our systems and catalog working properly, and the brand will dominate the market.
