ALTA Medi: Redefining Aesthetic Medicine Through Science and Artistry

Business Fortune

ALTA Medi is a doctor-led aesthetic clinic based in London and Beverly Hills, serving a diverse clientele that includes Hollywood actors and celebrities. Founded on Harley Street, by Anastasia Koles, the clinic has built its reputation on medical expertise, personalised treatments and a commitment to aesthetic excellence. Today, its presence in these two prominent locations reflects its continued appeal among high-profile clients seeking trusted, high-quality aesthetic care.

Anastasia’s journey into aesthetics began with a strong foundation in science and nursing. She studied biomedical science with a focus on cancer research, completed a Master’s degree in neuroscience, trained as a nurse and later earned a Master’s degree in aesthetic medicine. This diverse background shaped her understanding of human anatomy, facial structure and the importance of evidence-based clinical practice.

When she entered the aesthetics industry, what struck her was how often treatments were driven by trends rather than anatomy. She frequently encountered patients who had been overfilled, treated with techniques that ignored how the face moves or left without adequate support when something went wrong. These experiences highlighted a clear gap in the industry: the need for a clinic that combined medical expertise with artistic precision and treated safety, aftercare and corrective treatments as seriously as the procedures themselves.

This realisation led to the founding of ALTA Medi on Harley Street. The clinic was established to offer a more considered approach to aesthetic medicine, placing patient wellbeing, clinical judgement and natural-looking results at the centre of every treatment. Its philosophy is rooted in enhancing individual features rather than following fleeting beauty trends, ensuring that results reflect the patient’s natural identity.

At ALTA Medi, the goal is simple: to help patients look like themselves on their best day, rather than look as though they have had a procedure. Through its doctor-led approach and commitment to safety, artistry and responsible care, ALTA Medi aims to set a thoughtful standard for modern aesthetic medicine.

In this exclusive interview with Business Fortune, Anastasia Koles, Founder and Lead Clinician of ALTA Medi, discusses how her scientific and clinical background shaped the company’s philosophy, why anatomy-led treatments matter and how prioritising patient safety, aftercare and natural results is helping redefine the aesthetic experience.

What challenges tested you while growing ALTA Medi and what did those experiences teach you about building a trusted brand?

Growth tests everything and my hardest lessons were about people and systems rather than technique. In the early years I was the clinic: the lead clinician, the trainer, the marketer and the operator. Scaling meant learning to build a team I could trust with our patients and creating the protocols, training and reporting that let our standards hold when I am not in the room.

We have also grown in a market where unregulated practice and aggressive discounting erode public trust. We chose not to compete on price. We compete on safety, outcomes and honesty. A meaningful part of our work is correcting treatments done elsewhere and that taught me that trust is built in the difficult moments: when you tell a patient she doesn't need a treatment or when you're the clinic she calls because something doesn't feel right.

ALTA Medi offers injectables, skin rejuvenation, regenerative treatments, body treatments, hair health and surgical services; how do you decide which treatments deserve a place in your portfolio for clients?

Every treatment has to pass three tests. The first is evidence: is there credible clinical data and a clear regulatory pathway behind it and do we fully understand its risks? The second is need: does it solve a real concern our patients bring to us, rather than the trend of the month? The third is capability: do we have the right clinician, training and setting to deliver it safely?

That is why our surgical and regenerative work, such as Nanofat transfer, is performed by plastic surgeons in a CQC-licensed facility and why we will hold back from offering something until we can do it properly. The portfolio also has to work as a whole, so that injectables, skin, regenerative and body treatments can be combined into one considered plan rather than sold as isolated procedures.

Your signature Dynamic Lip Sculpting technique focuses on facial harmony and natural movement; how did your team develop this approach and what makes its philosophy different from conventional aesthetic trends?

Dynamic Lip Sculpting grew out of more than 10,000 lip treatments and a frustration with the 'Russian lip' trend, which can look striking in a photograph but often looks unnatural when a person talks or smiles. The lips are among the most mobile structures in the face, so I began designing treatments around movement as well as shape at rest.

The technique starts with a detailed assessment of anatomy, proportion and muscle activity, then places product to support the lip's natural architecture rather than override it. The result is definition and hydration that move with the patient. Our philosophy is facial harmony first: the lips should belong to the face. I have presented on lip injection safety at IMCAS and every clinician who performs the technique at ALTA is trained by me personally, so the approach is consistent in London and Los Angeles.

With treatments such as Endolift, skinboosters, polynucleotides and advanced skin therapies, how do you balance new technology with medical evidence, safety and the individual needs of every client today?

New technology is exciting, but excitement isn't evidence. Before we introduce a device or product, we review the published data, its regulatory status and its safety profile and our senior clinicians train on it before a single patient is treated. Endolift, skinboosters and polynucleotides earned their place because they offer real, measurable improvement with a well-understood risk profile.

Matching treatment to the individual matters just as much. Every patient has a medical consultation and we use ultrasound-guided assessment where appropriate, particularly for patients with previous filler. Sometimes the right answer is a combination plan over several months; sometimes it is doing less. Our aim is never to use the newest tool. It is to use the right one.

As ALTA Medi has expanded from London to Beverly Hills, how would you describe your leadership approach and how do you keep clinical standards and company values consistent across locations?

I lead from the treatment room as much as from the boardroom. I still treat patients and that keeps me close to what matters most: clinical quality and the patient experience. As we have grown from London to Beverly Hills, consistency has come from three things.

The first is training: our clinical team is trained in our signature techniques and protocols, so a patient receives the same standard in either city. The second is systems: shared consultation, consent and aftercare protocols, supported by data, so I can see how each site is performing rather than relying on second-hand reports. The third is culture: hiring people who share our values of honesty, safety and discretion and giving them clear ownership. My role is to set the standard, build the structure that sustains it and then trust and develop the people who deliver it.

ALTA Medi serves clients who value privacy, personalised care and natural results; how do you build lasting relationships with them beyond the treatment itself and earn their continued trust?

Discretion is a given. What earns continued trust is care that carries on after the patient leaves. Every patient goes home with a clear aftercare plan, structured follow-up and a direct route back to their clinical team if anything concerns them. We have invested in our own technology so that post-treatment support, triage and clinical escalation are built into the patient journey rather than left to chance.

We also plan for the long term. A patient's treatment programme is mapped across the year, which means we are thinking about how she will look in five years, not five days. Many of our patients travel to us internationally and our team serves them in English, Arabic, Russian and Mandarin. Underneath it all is honesty: we will always tell a patient when not to treat.

Looking ahead, what treatments, technologies, locations or new initiatives are currently in your pipeline and how do you see ALTA Medi evolving over the next few years as aesthetics continues changing?

Our next chapter has three strands. Clinically, we are expanding our regenerative and minimally invasive surgical offering, including Nanofat facial rejuvenation performed by plastic surgeons, alongside our progress towards CQC registration for our own clinic. Geographically, we are developing a second London location and building on our presence in Beverly Hills, with New York the next market we are preparing for.

Technologically, we are building SureFace, our HealthTech platform for practitioner verification, discovery and booking and SureChat, which gives aesthetic clinics structured post-treatment support, triage and access to specialist clinical escalation. I believe aesthetics is becoming more medical, more regenerative and more accountable. Patients increasingly want natural, longevity-focused results from practitioners they can verify. Our ambition is for ALTA Medi to set that standard internationally and for SureFace to help raise it across the industry.
