At least 15 killed in Bondi Beach attack; Australian leaders vow stricter gun regulations as suspects face police fire.

In the wake of a deadly shooting that targeted a Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australian politicians promised on Monday to promptly change their already stringent gun control legislation.

The attack, which claimed at least 15 lives, has sparked criticism that authorities are not doing enough to stop the rise in antisemitic crimes.

A cap on the number of guns one can have and a review of licenses held over time are two of the new policies that are being suggested. The historic national guns agreement, which essentially outlawed rapid-fire rifles after a gunman killed 35 people in Tasmania in 1996 would be dramatically updated by these and other policies.

At the end of a summer day, thousands of people had gathered at Bondi Beach a symbol of Australia's cultural life, when the violence broke out. Many people joined the Chanukah by the Sea festival, which included food, face painting and a petting zoo to commemorate the beginning of the Jewish festival.

Prime Minister Albanese stated that the government is already prepared to take whatever action is required. Also in that is the need for tougher gun laws.

A father and a son who were suspected of being shooters were shot by police. The father Sajid Akram who was fifty years old passed away there. Naveed Akram the 24year old son was still unconscious in the hospital on Monday.
