At a significant international culinary event in New York, famous chef Jung Ji-sun is promoting Korean snack foods.
The owner and chef of the Tian Mimi brand of Chinese restaurants in Seoul is participating in this year's Summer Fancy Food Show, which began on Sunday (local time) and runs through Tuesday.
This year's event, which is the largest specialty food and beverage trade fair in North America, is expected to attract over 40,000 guests and feature around 2,600 firms. Korean snack foods that are often called street snacks include tteokbokki, or spicy boiling rice cakes, fast noodles, blood sausage, fish cakes, and a range of deep-fried substitutes, including squid, vegetables, and shrimp. Throughout the country, these treats are often sold at specialty eateries, on the sidewalks of popular tourist locations, and at local markets.
Jung, known as the "queen of dim sum," used an instant noodle cooker to show how to prepare instant noodles and other snack foods, demonstrating how to create Korean snacks and treats using everyday kitchen tools.
Customers in Western nations are becoming more interested in not only consuming Korean food but also preparing it at home as a result of K-pop artists' widespread popularity and businesses' aggressive market expansion.
The 2024 Netflix phenomenon "Culinary Class Wars" and other TV shows featured Jung, who also introduced meal kit sauces she developed especially for American consumers.
