Fans all throughout the world, including her longtime bassist, Amos Heller, were impacted by Taylor Swift's almost two-year Eras Tour run.
On Tuesday, December 10, the 47-year-old Heller, who joined Swift's band in 2007, used social media to share his thoughts on the highs and lows of the tour.
Heller shared a series of images of himself and Swift, 34, performing at different venues. He described "the ride of a lifetime" in a lengthy and heartfelt homage that he included as the description for the Instagram carousel.
Heller began by outlining some of the most stringent requirements for the trip, including the prohibition of earlier lobby calls. No more airports. The days of hauling a mono bag and suitcase up an escalator, through a line, and out of baggage claim are over. No more chilling down or warming up. I will no longer have to check my watch twenty times to make sure he doesn't miss any calls. No more "How many sleeps now?" and no more bidding my family farewell. Jet lag is over.
As the Eras Tour, which began in March 2023 and completed 152 gigs on five continents, became the highest-grossing tour in history, Heller's attention then shifted to the difficulties of touring to remote parts of the world.
He continued by saying that no more slipping into new languages, cultures, cuisines, or accented pleasantries. No more snow in Tokyo, watch factories in Switzerland, museums in Sweden, bass shops in Australia, steaks in Rio, tattoos in Ireland, runs in Germany, flowers in Amsterdam. It’s done.
The performer then went on to discuss some of his most memorable moments, such as entering any arena and feeling like "a gladiator." No more yelling lyrics with a perfect stranger who has become your closest friend, he wrote. No more gaping in wonder at my loved ones, who were just a few seconds ago cracking a foolish joke, now standing tall and prospering in the dazzling lights like famous giants. No more being asked to go as deep as I can and needing the best he has to offer.
At the time, Swift described the last Eras Tour performance as the most overwhelming, stressful, ecstatic, satisfying, and fantastic thing that has ever happened in her life. The gig was confirmed for June 13.
