Buca di Beppo Italian-American restaurant declared bankruptcy on Monday under Chapter 11 protection, stating that it plans to continue operating its present locations in spite of a sharp decline in revenues, growing expenses for labor and food, and staffing shortages.
According to its court pleadings, Buca di Beppo is renowned for its generous servings, family-style eating, and "eclectic decor," which includes a "Pope Room" adorned with sculptures, pictures, and other artistic portrayals of the pope.
It joins other restaurant companies, like Red Lobster and Rubio's Coastal Grill, which declared bankruptcy in 2024 due to growing prices.
According to Buca di Beppo's president, Rich Saultz, day-to-day operations would continue unabated, and the company's lenders favor a bankruptcy restructuring.
Saultz said in a statement that they were excited to embark on this new chapter in their brand's history and that Buca di Beppo has long been a cherished destination for get-togethers and special meals.
