Resource development and business would suffer under a Harris-Walz administration

Harris-Walz Policies

Tim Walz and Kamala Harris, the new Democratic Party ticket, are riding high on excitement, seeming momentum, and a hint of high school cool.

According to Walz, the duo offers the equivalent of "chicken in every pot," unparalleled national unity, and even joy. Naturally, they don't explain how they plan to bestow such generosity and the general goodwill that they exhibit at their presumably well-attended rallies on every American. Vice President Harris also doesn't defend the disastrous policy errors made by the administration, of which she has been a key member.

A recent article in the Oregon Statesman Journal made me realize how damaging Harris' vice presidency has been and how disastrous a Harris administration would be. The Journal reported on July 29 on the closing of Oregon's fifth lumber mill this year.

The following were some of the main causes of the startling number of mill closures:

  • A workforce devoid of drugs and willing to work.
  • Insufficient housing to draw in outside laborers.
  • Adverse lumber market conditions in the past few years.
  • High production costs as a result of inflation.
  • Poor and erratic output as a result of labor problems.
  • Oregon's government continues to impose more and more rules on small businesses.

Harris's unsuccessful immigration strategy can be directly linked to a number of the previously mentioned causes. An unwilling, uneven, or lowly productive labor pool is the inevitable result of an addicted workforce brought about by the flow of illegal narcotics entering the nation through an unguarded border. In addition, the number of illegal immigrants is increasing the demand for housing. Additionally, inflation—a byproduct of Harris' misguided economic policies—is partially to blame for high manufacturing costs.

The Democrats' inability to foster an atmosphere that is friendly to industry and entrepreneurship across the nation is another factor contributing to the problems of a dearth of lumber markets and redundant government regulations. It is impossible to ignore the fact that Oregon is a blue state under a progressive administration.
