YouTube improved eraser tool

YouTube upgraded its eraser tool on July 4th, providing a more convenient way for artists to remove copyrighted music from their videos without affecting other audio, such as conversation or sound effects.

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced that the updated Erase Song tool allows creators to easily remove copyright-claimed music from their videos while keeping the rest of the audio intact. The company noted that while the tool had been tested for some time, it previously had difficulty deleting copyrighted music. It was mentioned that the new tool employs an AI-powered algorithm to identify and eliminate that particular song from the clip without affecting any other audio.

YouTube continues to caution users on its support page that the algorithm may occasionally fail to remove only the music.

If the song is difficult to erase, this edit might not work. You can attempt additional editing choices, such as turning off all sound in the claimed sections of the movie or cutting them out, if this tool is unable to successfully remove the claim from it, according to the business.

Producers could choose to "mute" specific parts of a video that may contain copyrighted content to avoid any copyright issues. After an edit, YouTube deletes the content ID claim, which is how it tracks copyrighted material in clips.
