Pelosi Clooney Dems express concerns Biden

U.S. President Joe Biden's chances of gaining reelection have been called into question by two powerful Senate Democrats, Nancy Pelosi and George Clooney, who have the ability to influence other Democratic legislators and financial contributors.

Former House Speaker Pelosi, who is close to Biden, stated on MSNBC that he had to make a decision soon about whether to continue running for president in 2024, while she refrained from endorsing him. Hollywood actor Clooney, a Democrat who co-hosted an opulent fundraiser for Biden last month, announced in a blistering opinion piece in the New York Times that he was abandoning the candidate because he had changed since 2020.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer has reportedly privately intimated that he would consider a Democratic candidate other than Joe Biden, according to Axios. Schumer, however, released a statement affirming his support for Biden following the Axios piece. Senator Peter Welch, the first member of the Democratic Party to specifically ask for President Biden's resignation, made the request in an opinion piece that was published late on Wednesday.

A significant donor mentioned, but did not specifically identify Schumer, that Democratic leaders had said they would release statements expressing worry following the NATO summit. The Abandon Biden Campaign, which has opposed Biden's candidacy due to his handling of the Israel-Gaza war, called on all Americans to demand that Biden resign on Wednesday. However, the campaign stated that it was not blind to Trump and his hateful culture.

Pelosi's comments seemed to portend a new wave of calls from other Democrats to withdraw from the race, despite Biden's constant assertion that he is staying in it. The 81-year-old Biden has been working for almost two weeks to stop Democratic lawmakers, fundraisers, and other supporters from defecting because they are afraid that, following his dismal debate performance on June 27, he would lose the Nov. 5 election to Republican Donald Trump, 78.

Although he admitted to having a rough night at the debate, the president is adamant that he will continue to run and beat Trump. Pelosi stated on MSNBC that she was urging Capitol Hill colleagues who have reservations about Biden to hold off on discussing them while he is hosting NATO officials in Washington this week.
