The full menu of in-flight meal service, which includes full hot meals, and other dining options, has been reinstated by national airline Malaysian Airlines as of Wednesday.
With effect from Wednesday, national airline Malaysian Airlines Bhd has completely reinstated its in-flight meal service offerings, which include full hot meals, special meals, and complete dining utensils.
To improve the onboard eating experience, the airline is also launching improved meal options and updated menus in all sectors.
In order to fully resume in-flight meal services, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent company, has partnered with nine different third-party meal suppliers. Additionally, MAG Catering Operations (MCAT), a temporary distribution center, has been established to oversee the assembly of food and beverage (F&B) items and the positive impact of meals onboard via hi-lift vehicles.
Malaysia Airlines' catering transition, which went into effect on September 1st after the decades-long in-flight catering partnership with Brahim's Holdings Bhd ended on August 31, was described as "a painful and tough journey" by MAG group managing director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail. Despite this, the group is steadfastly committed to innovation, safety, and the highest possible level of customer satisfaction.
Although the catering cost increased from 2% of overall operating costs under the company's collaboration with Brahim's to 2.5% as a result of the new arrangement, he insisted that it was still "worth the investment."
With the MCAT, which consists of 24 hi-lifts, 6 freezers, and 2 chillers; MAG is able to independently handle 18,000 meals per day on average thanks to its investments in in-flight catering services.
