A UK-based SaaS startup called Intelligent Lilli uses machine learning technology to assist people in leading independent, secure, and contented lives in their homes. The company helps medical professionals, families, or caregivers to support people with self-limiting health issues to keep their independence and live longer at home by using sensors placed throughout the house to create a data picture.
The company Intelligent Lilli was established in 2014, and its main office is in Woking, Surrey.
The CEO of Intelligent Lilli, Gren Paull, discussed how his company is using technology to transform the home care industry in an interview with The Business Fortune. Here's an excerpt from it.
Where does Intelligent Lilli currently stand in relation to other industry players?
Our main priorities are helping those in need of care as well as the organizations that offer it. For example, the number of people in the UK who have self-limiting conditions is rising, which is putting even more pressure on the country's health and social care systems. A major obstacle is the necessity for 24-hour surveillance of individuals in need of care, coupled with a severe staffing shortage in the industry. Over the following ten years, providing care for an aging population will only get harder.
In contrast to our competitors, we aim to spearhead the care technology market's transition from a reactive, needs-based service that is currently provided by alarm-based technologies to one where we can proactively anticipate and prevent incidents that result from a decline in health and lessen the burden that jeopardizes our health and care services.
For instance, falls, slips, and trips that occur frequently in the home for senior citizens typically result in calls to emergency services. But these occurrences frequently stem from a deterioration in their health, which leads to an accident. Our approach finds trends and draws attention to any degradation concerns before these kinds of catastrophes happen. We have created a platform that uses real-time data to learn the behaviors of a single family using our proactive machine learning technique. This is produced by a variety of sensors positioned throughout the house to monitor things like movement, temperature, independence, and habits related to eating and drinking.
In what ways does Intelligent Lilli enable individuals to live freely at home?
Regardless of age, health, or financial status, we help people live securely, freely, and contentedly in their own homes. By giving individuals who desire it a choice of care options, we hope to lessen the burden on unpaid caregivers as well as health and social care professionals.
We accomplish this by using clever, non-intrusive technology that watches and records household activity. A profile of a person's normal routines and habits is then created using the data that was collected. Then, by utilizing ML and AI, we are able to recognize the common patterns and trends that each service user exhibits and produce insightful analyses that show their improvement, decline, or any areas that need attention. Early detection allows for proactive intervention to stop the problem from getting worse.
This not only helps caregivers provide higher-quality preventative care, but it also helps identify hazards early on, lowering the likelihood of hospital stays or residential care, which also lowers expenses and the trauma and mental and physical harm they may cause. This gives them the option to live independently in their house for an extended period of time. In a similar vein, it gives caregivers or loved ones comfort when they are not present and aids in their development of a precise self-awareness and self-care plan.
What information about your current technological platform can you provide? And to what extent is it unique?
The Lilli platform is easy to set up and uses a series of small, inconspicuous sensors to track daily behaviors in the homes of service users. The sensors' machine learning (ML) reduces false positives by analyzing large volumes of data and extracting insights unique to each person and their situation. In order to help integrate and streamline cross-organizational care pathways, the information is compatible with health systems and simple to understand for caregivers and service providers. One dashboard that automatically generates reports with alerts and actionable insights about a service user's activities can be used to aggregate all of the service users.
Care personnel may utilize Lilli to drill down into individual behavior patterns at the touch of a button, providing them with the information they need to make better decisions about how to provide care or allocate resources based on the data insights. They can log in using any device.
Lilli is distinct in the industry. It transforms remote care from a reactive, alarm-based approach to a highly accurate, preventive methodology that prolongs service-user independence and lowers the need for more complex treatment or residential care. It does this by combining machine learning, behavioral analytics, and sensor technology in a cloud-based solution.
What other areas do you prioritize?
We are living in an exciting period with a lot of good things happening. Four new clients have recently joined our clientele, and we are thrilled to have been approved as suppliers by Her Majesty's Government. That speaks highly of the Lilli team and our product, especially given how young we are. Furthermore, we have been awarded our first patent, which demonstrates our qualifications and motivates us to advance our product.
In 2022, we will also be aiming to expand our product to new housing associations as part of our execution phase. We place special emphasis on reaching out to people who live in locations with inadequate access to care. We can help keep vulnerable people out of care facilities by implementing our solution to allow them to live in their own homes.
Next year, we plan to further expand across Europe, especially in areas where Lilli can make the biggest impression. We are talking about future plans to launch in the United States as well.
