Ezee Fiber: Redefining Broadband with Transparency, Reliability, and Fiber-First Innovation

Business Fortune

When Matt Marino stepped in as chief executive of Ezee Fiber, the company was a small, early-stage player with fewer than 2,000 residential customers and a single office. Just two years later, it has expanded into a fast-growing multi-state operator, employing roughly 750 people and on track to serve 140,000 customers by the end of 2025.

At its core, Ezee Fiber was built on a clear idea: fast, reliable internet should be simple, transparent, and accessible. In an industry often marked by complex pricing, expiring promotions, and restrictive contracts, the company set out to deliver a different experience. Its model centers on straightforward pricing, symmetrical gigabit speeds, and a 99.99% uptime commitment, supported by local teams embedded in the communities they serve.

That growth has not come easily. Building a 100% fiber network requires significant coordination, from talent acquisition to construction, permitting, and municipal partnerships. By focusing on collaboration, regional expertise, and long-term investment, Ezee Fiber has scaled rapidly while maintaining a strong foundation for continued expansion.

Business Fortune spoke exclusively with Matt Marino, CEO of Ezee Fiber, about how the company is reshaping the broadband landscape through a community-first approach, transparent pricing, and high-performance fiber infrastructure, delivering symmetrical gigabit speeds, 99.99% reliability, and scalable connectivity built for the demands of modern digital life.

Interview Highlights

Speed is one thing, reliability is another. You promise 99.99% network reliability and underground fiber in many areas. What are the technical strategies or innovations Ezee Fiber is using to ensure reliability, particularly in challenging environments?

Because fiber transmits data using light instead of electricity, it is inherently faster, more efficient, and far more resilient to weather and interference than copper or coaxial alternatives. That is the foundation of our reliability.

We take a community-by-community approach to network construction, balancing underground and aerial deployment based on geography, existing infrastructure, and local guidelines. Wherever underground construction is feasible, we strongly prioritize it. Underground fiber is well protected against severe storms, theft, and most accidental damage, which translates directly into greater uptime. We also work closely with utility partners to safely share underground space and minimize disruption to residents.

Where aerial fiber is the better option, we deploy it to enable faster build timelines and easier maintenance access without sacrificing performance. Across both deployment types, our infrastructure includes redundant routing and 24/7 monitoring systems that allow us to detect and resolve issues before customers are affected.

That approach was put to the test during a major hurricane in Houston. While other providers were offline for days or even weeks, most of our customers were back online within 48 hours. Our team showed extraordinary commitment, hauling generators to field locations, working through the night, and in some cases sleeping at the office to ensure customers were taken care of. That is the kind of team we have built.

One thing worth highlighting is the sheer pace at which this company has grown without losing sight of what matters. Employment has nearly tripled — from roughly 250 employees in one location to more than 750 across four offices — in just over two years.

The Tachus acquisition was a significant milestone. Tachus had built a loyal customer base across the northern suburbs of Greater Houston, and bringing that team and network into Ezee Fiber has strengthened our position as one of the region's premier fiber providers. The integration reflects our broader ambition: to build something lasting, not just something fast.

In terms of customer experience — support, installation, and maintenance — how does Ezee Fiber differentiate itself? What internal processes or cultural practices ensure customers receive a consistently high level of service?

Our commitment to customers starts with respect and simplicity: no term contracts, no hidden fees, and no pricing gimmicks. Just straightforward service that delivers exactly what we promise.

Every member of our team, from construction crews to customer support, is trained to take ownership of the customer experience. We employ local support teams in every market who are genuinely invested in the success of the communities they serve. We prioritize fast installations and clear communication so customers always know what to expect and never feel left in the dark.

The results speak for themselves. We maintain a 4.9-star rating on Google and Facebook, along with a 4-star employer rating on Glassdoor and Indeed. These ratings reflect a culture of accountability that runs throughout the organization. When something goes wrong, we own it and fix it. That is non-negotiable.

Many households and businesses now demand symmetrical upload and download speeds — content creators, remote workers, gamers. How has that shifted your product roadmap, and how do you see demand evolving in this space?

Symmetrical speed is no longer a premium feature; it is a baseline expectation. The way people use the internet has fundamentally changed. Remote work, video conferencing, cloud collaboration, content creation, and online gaming all place significant demands on upload capacity, not just download. We recognized that early, and every Ezee Fiber plan has included symmetrical speeds from the start.

Our residential plans currently deliver symmetrical speeds of up to 8 gigabits per second, while our enterprise offerings scale up to 400 gigabits. As technologies like artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, and large-scale cloud platforms continue to evolve, demand for high-capacity, low-latency networks will only increase. Our 100% fiber infrastructure is purpose-built to meet that demand for decades to come.

Looking ahead, where do you see Ezee Fiber in five years in terms of geography, market share, and product offerings? Are there states beyond Texas, or international ambitions?

In five years, we see Ezee Fiber as one of the most trusted and recognizable names in American broadband, a strong, multi-region network operator that remains true to its community-first approach as it grows.

We already operate in Texas, New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, Michigan, and Illinois, with additional U.S. expansion planned. While we will continue investing in residential and business connectivity, we are also focused on building digital infrastructure that supports broader economic growth in the communities we serve.

Our approach is centered on sustainable, strategic growth, not expansion for its own sake. We aim to be a company that communities actively welcome, not one that arrives and overwhelms them. Regional offices, local hiring, and strong community partnerships will remain central to how we scale.

Sustainability is a hot topic. Fiber networks have environmental impacts — digging, energy for data centers, and so on. What efforts is Ezee Fiber making to operate more sustainably?

Fiber-optic networks are inherently more energy-efficient than legacy copper or coaxial infrastructure. Because fiber transmits data using light rather than electrical signals, it requires significantly less power to operate at scale, and that efficiency increases as more customers join the network.

Our underground deployment strategy also delivers environmental benefits be

yond reliability. Burying fiber reduces long-term surface disruption and minimizes the materials and maintenance required compared to aerial infrastructure exposed to the elements. We also work closely with local utilities and municipalities during construction to reduce the footprint of our build-outs and coordinate with existing underground infrastructure wherever possible, limiting redundant excavation.

Under the Leadership of Matt Marino

Matt Marino serves as Chief Executive Officer of Ezee Fiber. Under his leadership, the company has grown from a small Houston-area provider into a multi-state fiber internet operator with more than 750 employees and an expected customer base of 140,000 by the end of 2025.

Marino has overseen the expansion of network infrastructure investment across Ezee Fiber’s markets and led the company’s 2025 acquisition of Tachus Fiber Internet. He is focused on building a broadband provider that combines enterprise-grade performance with the kind of transparent, community-centered service that has historically been missing from the industry.

“Fast, reliable internet should be simple, transparent, and attainable for everyone.”
