Q. Could you describe your childhood and how it influenced your decision to become an entrepreneur?
Houston, Texas, is where I was born and reared. I grew up with a younger sister who was pampered and spoiled and an older sister who had a serious impairment. Being the middle child, I began working when I was twelve years old in order to support my family and pay my own expenses. My family was quite impoverished, and life was difficult. I worked at any occupations I could find, such as massages and yard mowing. We lived in abject poverty, and my parents didn't own a car. I started off as a small business owner at an early age, but I never thought I would become one.
Q. Can you share the story of how your business career began?
It all began during COVID-19 when I was a single mother working three jobs. I was distraught when I lost two of those jobs. For three months, I worked full-time for Uber, but after expenditures, it wasn't enough to support me. It was the worst job I've ever had, but I ultimately obtained a position at the post office. I gathered money and quit after telling my buddies that I no longer wanted to be there. Since it was my love, I went back to using Uber and Lyft. I enjoyed working the night shift and made a name for myself by running a "party Uber" that was well-liked by everybody. With a simple car journey, I changed people's lives.
My entire existence seemed to fall apart when I lost Uber and Lyft as a result of fraudulent reports. God gave me a cause to live when I prayed to him. At that point, Houston, Texas-based Impeccable Rideshare LLC, a limousine and party bus company, was established.
Q. How do you strike a balance between your personal life and the demands of entrepreneurship?
To be honest, there isn't any balance at first. The wildest and most fulfilling journey of your life is entrepreneurship. I'm single and don't have a lot of personal life at the moment. Someday, I hope to find love, but for now, I'm totally focused on my business. In spite of the difficulties, I wouldn't alter a thing.
Q. What fuels your enthusiasm for starting your own business?
God, who gave me life and purpose, is the source of my passion. "Shelly, I am not done with you yet," he said to me. It's my mission and everything I have, which is why I'm so enthusiastic about what I do. I am inspired and reminded of my progress by the magazines in which I have appeared. Since victors never give up, I can't stop. My purpose in life is to leave a legacy for God, the cosmos, and myself.
Q. Businesses all throughout the world have been significantly impacted by COVID-19. Could you tell us about the impact the epidemic had on your company?
COVID-19 had a big impact on my business and still does. Even if the economy is difficult, I continue to go forward. Since this business is everything I have and everything I care about, I'm working hard and networking. According to one of my clients, I'm too legitimate to give up; therefore, I can't.
Q. What would you consider to be your greatest strengths and areas for improvement?
Resilience, determination, inventiveness, work ethic, and the capacity to motivate others are some of my strong points. I'm really good at using social media to promote myself and inspire others by sharing my experience. Also, I have a passion and drive unlike anybody else's, and I am the greatest entrepreneur in the universe. I enjoy motivating people, and I will never stop.
Financial limitations and a lack of resources to advance, including funding for equipment or assistance from grants and investors, are my shortcomings. Because of the stress and sacrifices required, entrepreneurship also has a negative impact on one's health.
Q. Could you highlight some of your key accomplishments and milestones throughout your journey?
This year, I have made significant professional progress. I have been featured in articles by eleven magazines, including Business Insider (twice), Voyage Houston as one of the most inspirational people in Houston, 300 Inc.com as one of the top 300 entrepreneurs worldwide, Top 100 Magazine, Fuzia Magazine, All Around World's Magazine, Lux Life Magazine as Houston's top wedding limousine and party bus company of the year, and North America Business Awards as the 2024 limousine and party bus company of the year.
Moreover, I am excited to announce that my book ‘Spread the Word, I’m Making It Happen’ will be out soon. Becoming an author brings me great joy. Also, I have constructed my website and app with the help of Debashis Mohanty.
My biggest accomplishment, personally, has been growing my business and discovering meaning in God.
Q. What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to start their own business?
Because Christ is your strength, you can accomplish everything (Phil 4:13). Always aim to fulfill your potential and never give up. Treat everyone equally and express gratitude to your staff members with deeds rather than simply words. Don't question yourself, take calculated chances, and keep learning and developing. Finally, if you're in Houston, get a flawless ride with us rather than drinking and driving.
Q. What mantra do you live by, and what message do you have for your supporters and aspiring entrepreneurs?
Winners don’t quit! Winners don’t give excuses! Winners don’t try; winners do it! Winners always get back up and keep pushing. Manifest your goals, speak them into existence, and believe they are already done. On the other hand, losers quit, make excuses, and never follow through.
To my supporters: Please support me and my journey (you can donate in any way, just call me or text), consider purchasing my book—it's the ideal present for any occasion—for (Christmas, to inspire someone, a struggling entrepreneur, birthday, Christian gift, Mother’s Day gift, or gift it for any occasion. Remain resilient, for God is always at your side. Whether your goal is to become an entrepreneur or go up the corporate ladder, always remember to look for yourself and never give up.
For aspiring entrepreneurs, life as an entrepreneur is like a roller coaster—it’s full of sacrifices, particularly regarding health, but the rewards are unmatched. Be true to yourself, don’t change for others, and keep moving forward. May you always stay blessed and find success!
