The story of Quick & Pure Ice Systems began long before the brand had a name. The original machine was developed under a different name by an inventor from the ice industry, alongside an early investor with decades of experience in the automatic pre-opened bag industry. With equipment and consumable materials expertise, it was this investor who ultimately brought together the partnership group that would evolve into what is now known as Quick and Pure. Initially, the inventor focused on fine tuning the concept while the future partners observed the technology mature and gain traction in the market. When the timing was right, Quick & Pure LLC was formed, acquiring the necessary intellectual property and assets to build the brand into what it is today.
At its core, the Quick & Pure Ice System is an automated, on-site solution for retail locations and convenience stores. It produces, bags, and dispenses ice in 10-lb sealed packages on demand, operating 24/7. The company’s defining moment came at the 2022 NACS Show, as the industry emerged from the disruptions of COVID. Quick & Pure introduced its Gen3 indoor unit, a system designed for safety, sanitation, and fully touch-free operation from ice production to a sealed bag. At a time when supply chains were strained and deliveries were unreliable, the timing could not have been better for the launch. This event marked the beginning of Quick & Pure’s market expansion. Supported by dedicated partners who believed in the vision, the company has continued to grow, validating both its economic model and customer satisfaction.
Business Fortune spoke exclusively with Kyle Kornfeld, CEO of Quick & Pure, the company redefining how bagged ice is produced, sold, and sustained in retail. Built on patented on-site ice manufacturing, automated bagging, and a partnership-first business model, Quick & Pure replaces outdated delivery systems with smart, in-store solutions that keep shelves full even when summer demand peaks. From cutting fuel emissions to stabilizing store margins and ensuring fresh, locally made ice on demand, Kornfeld and his team are quietly transforming a legacy industry with technology, discipline, and a clear environmental mission.
Interview Highlights
Building Quick & Pure required vision and perseverance. What major challenges did you face at the start, and how did they influence the company’s growth?
Bagged ice is usually treated as a loss leader until the July 4th weekend hits and stores run out of ice with no deliveries in sight. Three times a year—Memorial Day, Labor Day, and the Fourth of July—along with summer sales spikes, demand surges significantly. The bagged ice industry operates under a long-standing status quo, which makes it challenging to introduce an innovative product with a new economic model the market is not used to. We overcame this by clearly communicating the added value, proving results, and staying consistent.
By being open and fearless in stacking our technology against other solutions on the market, the results became clear day by day. Eventually, the only store in town during parades, camping season, or fireworks with ice available was the store with our system continuously producing fresh 10-lb bags of ice. Word spread, and we marketed to the specific accounts we wanted to partner with. Some were open; some were not, so we kept sharing the success stories with anyone who would listen.
Your ice stations seamlessly produce, bag, and dispense fresh ice. Can you explain the key technologies behind your machines and what makes them different from traditional ice vending solutions?

Traditional ice vending requires one bag at a time and a separate transaction. Convenience stores are about convenience. We found consumers do not want to pay for their items, take them to the car, and then go back outside for a separate item and wait for it to dispense. Our indoor systems keep multiple bags readily available right in the store, like any other product. For bulk buyers needing more than two or three bags, we provide separate indoor/outdoor satellite boxes that can be quickly loaded onto trucks or trailers for crews or beach parties. Vending-style systems often go unused or unnoticed, creating losses for both stores and operators.
The economics are also different. There is no revenue sharing, profit splitting, or equipment leasing.
Quick and Pure installs systems with no capital cost to the store, capturing revenue only from bag sales, while the store keeps the margin on the first bag. This creates a true partnership between us and the store.
Another major differentiator is our patented, integrated bagging system, which is reliable and remotely serviceable. Our mechanical and electrical IP, combined with advanced remote sensing, allows Quick and Pure teams to monitor and maintain machines, often fixing issues before stores even notice them. On the rare occasion they do notice an issue, problems are resolved immediately.
Finally, the economics favor the store. Delivered ice will face rising fuel and labor costs over the next decade, and our pricing model is designed to remain stable, making it increasingly attractive to customers over time.
Product innovation is crucial in your industry. How does Quick & Pure approach research and development to ensure each machine stays ahead of market needs?
We are constantly assessing the market and its needs. This feedback loop comes straight from the field into our R&D team’s hands for validation. Data is king and drives everything for us. A perfect example is our recent debut of our “Mini” series machines. We heard the market needed a smaller, more cost-effective solution while still delivering the same powerful experience. Too many mid- to low-volume convenience stores are left to fend for themselves every summer when deliveries stop showing up. Our legacy machines may be too much horsepower for those locations and for us. So we spent a significant amount of R&D time and capital developing the next solutions for greater market penetration into 2026. The series debuted in December 2025 and is already being deployed in 2026. We will continue to innovate and automate solutions based on customer needs in the market, roll products out with speed, and pour gas on what works.
Reliability is critical for stores relying on your ice systems daily. What steps have you taken in your product design and support to ensure continuous operation and minimal downtime?

Making our product extremely user-friendly is a huge passion of ours. Leveraging technology and simple mechanics to accomplish an intuitive and simple machine is something we are very proud of. If stores need support, they have access to 24/7 remote fleet services, which can walk them through processes or even make adjustments for them for future use.
We also have national senior field technicians who are plugged directly into their markets, showing up at all hours of the day or on holidays within minutes if something warrants an in-person visit. Our service and reliability pillars have been created and executed at high levels to ensure the customer experience is not forgotten and to allow Quick and Pure to deliver expected results.
Sustainability is a strong focus for Quick & Pure. How do your products support environmental goals, and why was this built into your system from the outset?
Sustainability is at the core of Quick & Pure’s mission. Our system eliminates the need for ice deliveries, keeping trucks off the road and reducing fuel emissions. The ice is made fresh on-site from local water and packaged in bio-friendly bags with environmentally conscious ingredients. Our machines are designed with eco-friendly components to reduce energy and water use, minimizing overall environmental impact. From the beginning, we built sustainability into the system because being “green” is our mission. We also ensure this commitment aligns with our customers’ sustainability goals, creating a partnership that supports both business and the planet.

Looking ahead, which new products or markets is Quick & Pure exploring, and what lasting impact do you aim to create over the next decade?
You’ll have to stay tuned to see where we head next. What we are focused on over the next decade is transforming the way the retail industry handles bagged ice at every level. Traditional approaches, like plugging in an outdoor freezer and relying on deliveries, might feel familiar, but they are far from sustainable. They drive up costs, raise health and environmental concerns, and often fail when demand peaks during the summer. Our systems address these challenges, providing a solution that is reliable and efficient.
