PreludeDx has created a unique and game-changing method for doctors as to what early stage breast cancer means, specifically ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), in the very fundamental realm of cancer diagnostics, where every minute and every patient specific treatment decision is crucial. The most exciting offering from the company, the DCISionRT, has indeed changed the way a healthcare provider judges the requirement of radiation for a patient; it is much more personalized. Under the guidance of its President and CEO, Dan Forche, PreludeDx has enabled significant reforms in empowering women and improving patient outcomes through personalized treatment options.
The Innovative Risk Assessment Approach for DCIS
Every year in the U.S, over 60,000 women are diagnosed with DCIS, an early form of breast cancer, and have traditionally had surgery and radiation therapy but many patients are hesitant, especially due to radiation fears. With PreludeDx, a test to assess the risk of DCIS recurrence and the potential benefit of radiation therapy, is provided a 'to treat' or 'not to treat' dilemma.
It has revolutionized radiation recommendations for 42 percent of patients compared to conventional methods. DCISionRT analyzes tumor biology using a non-linear algorithm to provide more personalized risk assessments. By incorporating protein expression from seven biomarkers and four clinicopathologic criteria, it uniquely provides a comprehensive Decision Score™. This data driven, personalized pedagogy is used by over 1,100 doctors globally.
Stretching Borders
PreludeDx is broadening its toolkit to fit the niche of early-stage breast cancer treatment. The DCISionRT+, which are about to be launched by the company, is the advanced version of its original test. The test will help those patients who should be identified as high-risk even after surgery and radiation therapy. Hence, a major step forward in offering additional therapeutic options to patients requiring them.
PreludeDx now has its sights on moving beyond that in the early-stage breast cancer continuum, which progresses into stages 1 and 2 of invasive disease, and atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH). Holding the promise of progress, PreludeDx continues to have a leading role in personalized cancer care, even more so in navigating the course of treatment decision between patients and physicians with enhanced assurance and accuracy.
Less of a new innovation is PreludeDx under the visionary leadership of Dan Forche, but rather changing the scene of breast cancer diagnostics and creating a new paradigm in patient-centered care for the medical industry as a whole. The future looks bright for the patients and the field of cancer treatment in general as the company continues to grow and innovate.
The Innovation's Leadership
Dan Forche, who was appointed as the leader of PreludeDx in 2016, has taken the company through essential expansion and growth via his leadership.
