Iapetus Holdings is a privately held portfolio company that offers alternative investments and a range of energy services companies. The company provides solutions for the utilities and energy sectors. Iapetus offers a broad pool of seasoned professionals with a range of experiences in energy, safety, risk management, finance, and other fields, together with an entrepreneurial and forward-thinking mindset.
With its headquarters located in Houston, Texas, Iapetus Holdings was established in 2006.
Iapetus Holdings CEO Craig Taylor only talked to The Business Fortune. Here's an excerpt from it.
Support for shared services is offered by Iapetus Holdings to several industries, including Hyperion HSE, Gold Coast Utility Specialists, Atlas Retail Energy, Atlas Field Services, and Atlas Commodities. What framework does Iapetus have in place to effectively and strategically support these operational businesses?
Iapetus boasts a broad team of experts in various fields, including business, legal, operations, finance, human resources, and communications. The leadership at our central office is 63% diverse. One of the main ways we set ourselves apart in the verticals we service is through our collective vision. Our combined expertise and perspectives enable us to provide innovative and quick fixes for both long-standing issues and newly emergent ones in each of the industries we serve.
Iapetus Holdings is addressing some of the most pressing energy, safety, and sustainability-related issues facing the planet. Iapetus, a privately held portfolio of seven multimillion dollar, self-funded businesses, employs more than 400 people and uses strategic thinking, creativity, and an entrepreneurial vision. We support the economy, power dependability, infrastructure, and the next generation of professionals. Iapetus aims to leave a legacy for the following generation while giving back to the community.
As "professional problem solvers" and risk mitigaters, that is how we like to describe ourselves. Based in Houston, Texas, our "A" team provides services to operating companies all across the nation. Furthermore, we all approach risk management from various perspectives.
What distinguishing feature does Iapetus have?
We take a different approach to risk management. Serving several energy industry verticals is a commonality among all of our companies. Our combined team's capacity to reduce risk and make preventative plans is our second point of similarity. Furthermore, every company employs essential personnel who are subject matter experts in their particular fields, such as energy brokerage, field services for utilities and energy corporations, energy consulting, or tech-enabled inspections of vital infrastructure. Their proximity to work is an amazing mix. Furthermore, we are able to "not lose the forest for the trees" because of our "ten thousand-foot view."
The patterns, connections, and solutions are readily apparent. To give an example, we like to state that, in terms of our utility vegetation management services, we address issues at the utility level as opposed to the conductor level. We can see the big picture. And we take minute actions.
I think that formal academic training is important and worthwhile. I believe it has been effective for me. In addition to pursuing the greatest education possible for myself, I expanded our group of companies' leadership development programs for others. People are sponsored to attend classes at Columbia University and Rice University. Our COO and I have both worked in financial banking at some of the most prestigious institutions in the world, so maybe that helps us better understand how all of these businesses—and more importantly, the people who run them—work. We know that people who are a good fit for our firm connect with that level of trust and that they will return the favor. We have high standards for both ourselves and our staff.
The most valuable quality we have cultivated as leaders has been, without a doubt, our aptitude for reading people. Our goal is to comprehend, whether it's a team member or a client in a difficult circumstance. We only then provide wise counsel and workable answers.
What transformational plans are you pursuing to stay relevant both now and in the future, considering how often circumstances change?
Being nimble, flexible, and entrepreneurial is a defining characteristic of our organization. We know this model will continue to function in the future for issues we are still unaware of, just as we have shown how effectively it relates to various facets of an industry. Firstly, we are already anticipating and mitigating those issues. That is a crucial aspect of what we do! Second, we're still accessible. We remain receptive to prospects and possibilities, even if they fall beyond the purview of our current discussions. We also have optimism. I've found that maintaining an optimistic outlook and an open mind always pays dividends.
We are also extremely perceptive, data-driven, and fact-based. Thus, we are rarely caught off guard by events.
