DYOPATH: How a Pandemic-Era Merger Became a Managed IT and Security Provider

Business Fortune

The timing couldn't have been better. As empty offices belled the country in March 2020, two managed service providers had wrapped their merger, the combined staff to support organizations whose workers had found themselves suddenly working remotely.

About DYOPATH

DYOPATH is a managed IT and managed security services provider with offices in Houston and operating out of Chicago, Florida and Mexico and a US-based network operations center and service desk. The name is a double entendre of Driving Your Organization's PATH to IT success. Its aim is to provide IT solutions and customer service with accountability.

How did the company come together?

Both predecessors had a track record in their industry. The company formed when DYONYX and Single Path merged.

DYONYX, founded in 1996, provided hosting, hybrid cloud, an ITIL-aligned service desk and security services. The Houston Business Journal listed it the sixth-largest cybersecurity firm in its area in 2019.

Single Path, founded in 2003, served commercial and education customers from Illinois. Trade press put the combined headcount at roughly 200 when the deal was announced and the financial terms were not disclosed. Growth followed with the September 2021 acquisition of Innovative Technology Solutions, which the company says propelled its US headcount past 600.

Rob Koch, an original founder of Single Path, serves as CEO. CRN put the company in its MSP 500 Elite 150 in both 2024 and 2025, for providers that offer mixed on- and off-premises services, targeting primarily midmarket and enterprise clients. DYOPATH also advertises a 98% customer satisfaction rating, which it reports itself.

What does DYOPATH offer?

The catalog is diverse, but it fits primarily into two brands, one of which is a dedicated private equity practice. Think of it as layers: security, managed IT, infrastructure and cloud and outsourcing to investors.

DYOGUARD: Security and Compliance

DYOGUARD is the security side and spans advice, assessment and round-the-clock operations. Governance, risk and compliance work includes IT and compliance assessments, penetration assessments and regulatory support. The company cites experience with HIPAA, PCI DSS, FERPA, CMMC and NIST.

The managed security tier includes endpoint detection and response, SIEM and SOC as a service, SOAR automation, managed email security (DLP and DMARC), incident response, data security, security awareness training and vendor and executive risk management. Security program management adds reporting and virtual CISO services. Vulnerability management includes autonomous penetration testing and a host-based option and dark web monitoring for leaked data. When an incident strikes, the described playbook is to contain the threat, find the root cause, close the gap and deliver a written report.

DYOSPHERE: Managed Services

DYOSPHERE is the flagship managed services platform and is the more interesting conceptually. It is built around a five-stage IT maturity model (Chaos, Reactive, Proactive, Service and Value) and the pitch is moving the client up that curve rather than just closing tickets. The company contrasts itself to contracts that simply keep the lights on, arguing that it is designed to create business value. It targets organizations of roughly 100 to 5,000 users, such as stretched IT teams, fast-growing companies and post-acquisition companies.

The platform has three layers. End-user services include a 24/7/365 service desk, patch management, depot, dispatch and field services and workstation data protection. Infrastructure services include monitoring, performance and capacity management, network management, server protection and Microsoft 365 backup. Client management services add technical alignment and program management for migrations and refreshes. Optional add-ons include vCIO advisory, DevOps, AI deep learning, architectural design and fractional engineering. Buyers can take the full bundle or pick à la carte and engagements begin with a complimentary maturity assessment.

Infrastructure, Cloud and Support Models

The DYOSPHERE menu stretches further: infrastructure as a service, remote monitoring and management, backup as a service, fiber internet, managed and unmanaged SIP, software-defined WAN, wireless connectivity, technology refresh and migration work. The cloud side adds advisory services, cloud assessments, desktop as a service, disaster recovery as a service, hybrid cloud and unified communications as a service. DYOPATH offers support in near-shore, US-based, hybrid, leveraged or dedicated models, aside from program management and depot services.

Private Equity and Industry Focus

A separate practice targets private equity portfolio companies with IT outsourcing, data center outsourcing, IT spend management, on-site workplace outsourcing, software development and onboarding. Beyond that, the company lists work in education, financial services, government, healthcare, insurance, legal, manufacturing, nonprofit, energy and professional services.

DYOPATH grew from a pandemic-era merger into a broad managed IT and security provider, organized around DYOGUARD for security and compliance, DYOSPHERE for managed services, and a private equity practice. Its recognition on CRN lists and its maturity-model approach are the most distinctive features
