Business Fortune

Chimes AI, a B2B SaaS firm, is committed to developing a platform for AI construction and management without the need for code. The company assists businesses in creating their own AI apps so they may benefit from mass manufacturing through data analysis, behavior prediction, and automatic processing.
With its headquarters located in Taipei, Taiwan, Chimes AI was incorporated in 2020.
Dr. Johnson Hsieh (Ph.D.), CEO of Chimes AI, was approached by Business Fortune and discussed the company's ambitions to remain at the forefront of this industry and how it is making a difference. Here's an excerpt from it.
Head-to-head with Chimes AI CEO, Dr. Johnson Hsieh
In what ways does Chimes AI assist manufacturers in realizing the advantages of large-scale production?
The greatest way for businesses to implement AI is through Chimes AI. We have helped numerous corporate businesses and government agencies import Tukey to solve AI challenges on-premise or in the cloud over the past year. I co-founded Tukey, an AI modeling and management platform, with my team by fusing our industry experience with entrepreneurial education. Tukey's ability to precisely create AI models significantly lowers the learning curve for machine learning and data science, making it simple to use for operators, managers, and R&Ds with no prior experience in AI.
Over the past year, the COVID-19 epidemic has slowed down the pace of numerous manufacturing industries. The issue facing Taiwan's industrial sector in the midst of the pandemic is not a shortage of orders, but rather orders that have been thrown off. Industries must examine the problems ranging from the upstream feeding materials, the production end's quality control, to the downstream manufacturing end. In a situation when they are barely able to turn a profit, every management team is focusing intently on integrating information from upstream and downstream sources in order to optimize company earnings. The solution lies in the Tukey platform.
What other information on "Tukey" and its benefits for your clientele might you provide?
As was already noted, Tukey is a platform for creating AI models. The code-free platform, straightforward data purification, quick AI model deployment, and simple model deployment and update are Tukey's four primary features. Firstly, the two main features of our solution are a code-free platform and easy data purification, which are accomplished using drag-and-drop modules.
Model deployment can be accomplished with little time and learning costs by managers, engineers, and several other experts. Our target consumers will be able to assess the model with the aid of a comprehensive evaluation report once we have completed developing it using our potent AutoML technology. Additionally, users can simply manage the deployment and changes of models, as well as compare the performance of various model versions. Last, model APIs are offered so that consumers may utilize them in multiple contexts, such as prediction dashboards, equipment monitoring, marketing research, and many more. Additionally, we provide partners with specialized API application services.
Our products have a very high scalability and are highly customizable. For instance, our customer can add their algorithms to our platform through code if they frequently utilize them and have a strong AI team. Adjustments can be made to do customized modeling services based on Tukey's approach. Tukey also takes yearly subscriptions for on-premise and cloud services.
ERP, CRM, and manufacturing IoT data are all well-processed by Tukey. Almost all database systems can be used with our platform to access data in many fields. An upload tool for CSV, xlsx, and other data formats is also available in case there isn't a database of that kind. The output of our model makes use of APIs to make calls and make requests, following Google's normal operating procedure.
Users can finish end-to-end AI applications on their own with Tukey's drag-and-drop data extraction, automatic data preprocessing and parameter tuning (AutoML), and model life-cycle management (MLOps).
Chimes AI's solutions can address the pressing ESG and carbon reduction challenges that businesses confront, including production optimization, energy management optimization, and preventive equipment warranty. In order to improve AI practice in businesses, Chimes AI also arranged educational sessions during the lockdown periods in collaboration with other businesses.
Where does Chimes AI currently stand in relation to other industry players?
When contrasting Chimes AI with other providers of AutoML platforms, there were numerous benefits. Initially, we offer a user-friendly interface for cleaning data. Anybody who has worked on an ML project understands how crucial high-quality data is straightforward filtering commands combined with drag-and-drop functionality in univariate and bivariate charts make data cleaning straightforward for users. Secondly, we offer MLOps complete assistance. The model operation status monitoring module and the model life cycle management module give users a great deal of flexibility in a variety of scenarios.
Furthermore, because we work closely with the petroleum and manufacturing sectors, we offer a prosperous experience in resolving ESG issues, particularly with regard to manufacturing process optimization. For instance, we maximize one of our clients' distillation tower fuel usage.
Finally, we work with a range of SI, BI, and ISV suppliers, such as Tableau, Ulink Comboware, Microsoft PowerBi, etc. They can all communicate with Chimes AI Tukey. When utilizing our tools, users may help their projects remain flexible.
What fresh projects is Chimes AI working on right now?
Right now, we're trying to accomplish two major goals: first, we want to expand the dashboard's functionality, and second, we want to encourage scalable systems.
Regarding the dashboard, we now work with managers or operators to create a customized dashboard for each client. This year, we want to merge several BI tools, such as PowerBI and Tableau, into our community to allow users to conduct some customizations. Professional dashboards, like those for compressors and distillation towers, will also have standard versions with various components. Users have some degree of modifying ability and can receive the necessary dashboards in a reasonable amount of time.
We made the decision to commercialize our experience in the context of applications. We launched four new systems this year: an energy-saving and carbon-reduction system, a formula recommendation system, a process optimization system, and an equipment performance monitoring system. We have scaled initiatives within the organization in the past, and we plan to scale projects throughout the organization going forward.
Which industries do you serve clients in? Could you share with us one or two success stories that illustrate the difficulties your clients encountered and how your solutions enabled them to go past those difficulties?
Chimes AI has effectively entered Taiwan's top fields and primarily serves customers in the industrial, chemical, petroleum, and education sectors. For instance, one of the top 10 producers of chemical products worldwide, Formosa Plastics Group, is one of our clients in the petroleum sector. Our Tukey is the official application software used by Taiwan's Artificial Intelligence School, the nation's most illustrious AI talent training institution, which has produced over 8,000 alumni to date in the education sector.
In order to address equipment performance and maintenance issues related to our work at the Formosa Plastic Group, we developed Tukey on its server. We have been using this new system for about eight months, and since then, it has served 20 industries in Taiwan with about 400 pieces of equipment (compressor, freezer, pump, cooling fan, etc.).
The usage rate increased by 5%, which was an excellent outcome. Every day, hundreds of AI models support the predictive maintenance system's smart decisions by operating behind it. Only fifteen senior on-site employees without any programming experience completed these.
